My open letter to Fdev

It is not a "Player versus Environment" group when they are participating in actions that 'harm' other players - how many Mobius members have undermined any Power during the duration of Powerplay? Interacted with the BGS at all? Participated in CGs with opposing goals?

Not all "PvP" requires an interdictor. What Mobius represents is anathema to fair play in this game. The OP hit it on the head:

.

how many times......... the BGS is a PvE game....... Elite is a PvE game where PvP is possible IF players choose to engage in it. this is confirmed by the devs.

if you think "hard" players like PvP and "soft" players dont, well that is your problem not mine.

now should FD offer CGs which actively compete against each other ? sure why not but even then it will be players competing by doing PvE stuff if they choose.

Most ppl forget that the game was designed around the 3 modes, and not around open only. The rules were made way before, so why are we still - after a couple of years - discussing it.

Because the rules are never set in stone, they should be in flux, especially in a game such as this that is still being developed and having new features added all the time, an some people wish to see them change, in there eyes and in mine as well to be fairer, and Frontier itself have said they want changes, they have already stated they plan to give advantage to players playing in open whilst doing powerplay activities.

And some don't.

False.

They aired an idea, which had no plans behind it. It may happen, and it may not.

On a technicality yes because why Powerplay is part of the environment, it also pretty clearly designed to be driven by player versus player actions and not player actions vs the environment.
I'll make it clear for you.

It's PvE. The player versus player aspect is who does the most/best PvE. The player interacts with the environment, not other players, which make it technically and spiritually PvE. By definition.

You shoot another player, it makes no difference to Powerplay. The amount of stuff bandied about does. You can hamper other people's PvE efforts.

Power play is specifically design to be player vs player and that comes directly from Frontier.

yeah but they have a bit of a different view on PVP...their PVP is defined as a tug of war between sides, moving PVE trophies in an offensive manner, faster and in larger quantities than the other sides.

PvP that involves shooting someone in the face...is not activity that results in any significant changes in the galaxy around us. In fact, you have to grind out some serious PVE objectives to get the credits to even PVP at all....most of the PVP groups were some of the best PVE players in the game.

Yes, PP was created to be a competition between opposing powers. But the way FD has implemented it is that you're competing by playing the system, not through direct player combat.
This isn't like GW2 WvW where you have large groups of players fighting to take a keep, and another large group defending it and fighting them off. The "battles" in PP and CG's are for you to 'do more stuff' to support your side. There really is no directly opposing your opponents other than trying to do more than them. You can't stop them, just try and beat them in the race.

I know this mindset is hard to accept when you think about things DAoC RvR or GW2 WvW, or the many others that had open world conflict. But ED is different, it doesn't do it's "open world" conflict like that. You have to play the system, not the opponent.
Not saying I like this, but it's just the way it is.

And can and will be used for PvP - Powerplay favored government types and states come to mind. Look at Lockdown and Segova.

Brilliant plan! Great job for figuring out the way to stop CG's cold and pointing out a broken mechanic related to the CG's. Credit given where due. Unfortunately, this will be a one off action as the devs will kill the ability to do this again.

Right ... I give up.

Powers, BGS and CGs are players. You guys are right.
the more noise people make in the support for the idea that is express the more likely it will happen.
I'll be sure to keep making noise against it then.

See you next thread! :)

Wow 30 pages of this over a TOS breach, impressive.

13th. I don't know what game you have been playing for the past couple of years but surely it is not elite dangerous? Otherwise, it's really cute you think you could actually blockade a system, in a game that is far to heavily instanced for that to even be a remote possibility. So in your desperation you try to attack mobius who clearly is a private group operating in a certain capacity for said group, the game mode is designed for the group to operate in the capicity they so desire. You used an out of game method, which is going on to their site, getting access to their group, joining their game mode, and then trying to enforce your meta on them, to achieve an in game result.

It doesn't matter how you wanna slice it, how you wanna pretty it up etc. You. Broke. the. T.O.S. This is one case where I am 100% aligned with frontier's decision on this. They won't tolerate harassment in ANY capacity. Period. You ruined it for everyone because you didn't want to play within the confines of the game itself. You got off light, the fact the lot of you are still able to post here is amazing, and lenient at that.

Maybe you have an argument, it might even be a good one, but you ruined your credibility by breaking the TOS to try and prove your point.

And I do see the point you are trying to get, but that's why we've had the open vs private vs solo thread going on since beta 1? I think it was beta 1 anyway. The reality is until there are proper PVP encouraged systems in place for players like your group you're going to have to deal with the game the way it is. I've argued that having proper battles for territory etc should be a thing, but hey they say go play the spreadsheet simulator.

Good morning everybody!
