Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

ED - Using TAB key.png

Above is as I wrote it and how it should look. And how it looks before you upload it.
Below is how it looks when it's been uploaded.

And that really p****s me off !
I spend all that time making a careful layout, to help readers better appreciate what I'm trying to say, and because you can't use the <TAB> key (well.... I can't) or it doesn't recognize using the <SPACE> key as an alternative, you're stuffed ! 😤

When you go into the mission selection, it should show you a timer as to how long - real time - you have before it expires and you fail. As long as you complete and hand it in, you can do what you like.
Thanks Tyres, but I understand that.
Which, I assume means you have to build break times (eg: sleeping, eating, having a leak, sex ..... ;)) into the mission expiry time.
It is therefore important before starting any long mission, you allow for any necessary personal break times.
Yes ?

I’m not sure from your description that you are properly scanning the beacon.
Nor am I.
The navigation target you see in supercruise is not the beacon itself, just like the navigation target for a station is not the station itself.
That's interesting. I didn't realize there was a nav. target and a target. Two separate things.
Did you actually disengage supercruise when you arrived at the beacon?
Yes. Absolutely. I moved, very slowly, to within 20 meters of each beacon, before scanning by my method. (see my post #999 .... my second last response)
Did you then target the physical beacon, point the nose of your ship at it, and wait for the scan to complete?
Yes. When in the NAV PANEL - CONTACTS section, it identifies what you are scanning and that item (in my case a Beacon) disappears as a scanning choice after the scan is complete. Also, a small icon on the CONTACT PANEL rotates as the scan is undertaken. However, I don't think it tells you it's been completed successfully. You just assume it has.
Let’s start there.

You should get a message from the passenger saying that they are happy and ready to go to the next stop. If you didn’t, then something is wrong.

It sounds like you are scanning correctly, so maybe it was the wrong beacon, or in the wrong order.

The Orca - I could have flow my mission to Explorers Rest in the Krait Phantom with a first class cabin and a 65.91ly jump range. But I did it in the Orca with only 55ly, although it could have been a bit better if I had put light weight thrusters on the ship and a smaller power plant. Some people use an Orca as there exploration ship. That means giving up about 7ly jump range over a DBX/ASPX/Phantom, flying a ship that heats up more easily fuel scooping and charging the FSD, and because exploring is mostly in supercruise, you rarely get to enjoy the best thing about the Orca.
It's considerable speed and refined luxury feel using thrusters.
I like it for that and have the credits to spare to keep the Bronze Mermaid for fairly short range passenger missions in the Colonia region. So I gave her a fitting paint job while at Explorers Rest near Sagittarius A*.

For the new commander trying to build their fortunes, ships like the Dolphin and Orca are too expensive and take too long to make back their buy in cost. There is always a cheaper ship that can be more profitable despite not being able to use luxury cabins. When you have the credits spare to play at being a luxury cruise liner captain, these ships are a delight. I don't get the Beluga though. The best fuel scoop you can put in a Beluga takes 3 minutes 33 seconds to fill it's enormous fuel tank and you can get more passenger cabins in the glorious Anaconda. The Orca is more than enough to get the cruise ship captain game play experience.
Nice post. Beautiful photo. You must have been outside to take it. How did you get elevated to take it ? 😯

How does he convey the message ?

You will need to drop your passenger off at a space station somewhere - anywhere.
If you go to the right side ship panel (press 4), go to INVENTORY, then go down the list of inventory types to the last one on the list that looks like a suitcase, it will show you your passenger cabin(s) and how many passengers they have in them.
I think this says it all. He's gone. Either by being arrested, or got off at one of the Stations I stopped at. Or maybe met some shela (that's Aussie for "girl") and didn't get back on board again. If so ...... lucky b*****d ..... ;)

Deserted-crib3
That is done using the camera suite that we have told you about.

I still think he's outside. He's got Odyssey you know ?
Quain ?

Question 4
Some missions must be exceptionally long. Maybe taking hours to complete.
How do you take a rest, get some sleep and complete the mission ?
I had a 3 hours break. Did this maybe help me to fail ?
Even short passenger missions give you at least 24 hours real world time to complete them. So not likely the reason for failure. You can sleep overnight etc. and continue.

By the way, I'm curious as to why you chose to take a wanted criminal on a sightseeing mission for your very first passenger mission. As I said previously, these are really smuggling missions. You have to avoid being scanned, and it's quite difficult to do that. You can be scanned at any station, entering or leaving. You can be scanned at the tourist beacon. You need to be fast and sure of yourself to get in, get out, without being scanned. At stations you have to dock quickly and avoid any system authority vessels. Popping a heat sink will sometimes break a scan in progress, but not every time.

It just seems odd that you chose this illegal mission to do first thing :)

I just used the camera suite. I don't have Odysee. I did go out in an SRV just to see the ship from the outside. Then I took off and did a 2.54ly jump to visit Sagittarius A* for the second time. First time was in the Phantom.
64 more jumps until I'm back in Colonia which is about 110 jumps from Sagittarius A* in this Orca.

Websites never get on well with formatted text copied from something like Microsoft Word in them. In website design terms tab can never function correctly as it is meant for controlling format in a printed document, where web pages are meant to flow and adapt to differing screen sizes.
I find it very hard to read red text - it's too dark and my eyes are 51 years old and don't work as well as they did 7+ years ago 😀

Remember this:
Deserted-crib3 said:
You can't actually see what other players have stored at stations.
He was joking.
Oh ! And I thought it was my chance to help him! I don't know whether to 🤣 or 😢 .

I was just getting my own back. You ..... outside your craft taking the photo ..... 🤭 🤣 ;)
