I just read you are using economy mode route plotting. If you want to visit every star on a route, or you don't have a fuel scoop or enough fuel to get to your destination, this will help to complete the journey using less fuel and you get to see every star.
I you are trying to get to your destination quickly, you'll need to use fastest route and then use the fuel scoop much more frequently.
Also if you enable jet cone boost on your route, the route planner will take you through systems with neutron stars or white dwarves, you fuel scoop the swirling jet cones until you here "Frameshift Drive Supercharge" and then you can make a jump 4 times further than normal. I recon it's worth not doing neutron star jet cone boosts until you are already comfortable using fastest route and normal fuel scooping.
For the record, the first time I did the Robigo Mines to Sothis Sirius Astrometics tourist beacon run in an ASP X, I didn't know how it all worked and what the dangers were. I only knew to run without shields to get an extra passenger cabin in for more profit per run. When I got to the tourist beacon, I fumbled around in the galaxy map trying to plot my route back while a ship that had been chasing me dropped out of supercruise, scanned the ship and then opened fire. Boom! I didn't just fail the mission, I took a trip to the rebuy screen, so my failure was complete.
After that I always ran in silent running mode at the tourist beacon and even popped a heat sink at the same time as charging the FSD so I never had to leave silent running mode making it impossible to scan the ship. If you try to charge the FSD in silent running mode without using a heat sink, I expect the ship would explode.
