Newcomer / Intro My Return to ED ......

How's this for getting in close! 😮

I've just watched the 2nd episode of a BBC production called "Universe with Brian Cox".
I could have been logged into Elite Dangerous - Horizons (ED-H) except this was for real !
It's a 5 episodal series and unfortunately, I missed the first episode.
If you get the chance to watch it I suggest you do so. The presentation, the narrative, the speculation is mind-blowing!
AND IT"S FOR REAL ! 😲
Just the thought that there are possibly 20 Billion Earth-Like Worlds in our Galaxy alone!
That there are possibly 200 Billion "Rough" like Planets (Planets unattached to any Star System) moving freely through our Galaxy,
There are more dual Star Systems than single Star Systems in our Galaxy.
And on and on ..........
If it wasn't for real, it would be more unreal than ED-H ! :ROFLMAO:
However, it does explain why I play ED-H.
It's the closest thing that I can get to what is real.
And how good is that ! (y)

My family is watching this series right now on BBC iplayer. Dinner time viewing. We're in the middle of episode 2. Eldest son has interest in working in space industry and has chosen subjects accordingly. Wants a telescope for Christmas. Can't seem to get him interested in ED again - he did play for a while with friends.

Hmmmm .... Well, don't discourage him. What you might want to do in life, doesn't always mean what game you want to play. ;)

I'm thinking of moving my home System from LHS 2265 to Kaduvumbaa. That is, in my 34LY sphere (bubble) around LHS 2265. Kudu' is not as big and has all the necessary objects: one active Star, two inactive; one Station; two Outposts; five populated Planets, two with Bases; one Carrier; and nine Planets all open to being landed on. In fact, that's better than what LHS 2265 has got ! Kudu' is not in the centre of my bubble like LHS 2265, but that doesn't matter. London is not in the centre of England, but it's still where the country is ruled from. 😜
Anyway, just a thought. ;)

I just found this place 😲 :
It wasn't shown on the System Map, it was just listed on the Nav. Panel. And I haven't even DSS'd any of the Planets yet ! Wonder if I can land ....... ?
Oh I love Ed-H ;) Always something new ......... :giggle:(y)

And getting in closer (can't dock) and targeting the Med. Install. I get this:
There's got be a docking place somewhere ........ they have to be supplied ........
Maybe I just land on a flat spot, rather than dock, ;) Surely, the place won't be armed ........

There are other things out here too. You can see them indicated on Radar.
But I've got DSSing of 16 Systems to finish first ! Bother!!!!! :D
But I'll be back ........ ;)
Won't land. Might give the female nurses some worries, and I definitely don't want that !
Spoil it for me for when I come back ......... :ROFLMAO:

Universe is wonderful, and if you are enjoying it I would recommend almost any of Brian Cox’s other works on TV and radio.
If he gets a telescope I would suggest getting one with an over-specified mount compared to the scope rather than the other way round.

Right ...... I think any telescope would be better in his hands than mine. and him telling me what he's seeing and explaining to me would be perfect.
I got emotional watching his TV program. It was so beautiful. So real. So important to understand. And ED did that for me: I didn't know what a Star was before I came here; the difference between a Galaxy and a Universe. Sorry, correction: THE Universe, let alone orbiting details show in ED - Orrey. It made Brian's program so much more understandable, and at the risk of saying it again: HOW GOOD WAS THAT !

Brian Cox has been something of a staple on and off for a long time in our house. His Christmas lectures are fun and informative too.
Struggling to find decent telescope still in stock for Christmas 😐

There are many space stations and capital ships you can't land or dock at. I once wondered how tourists got into a tourist centre Green and Black near the centre of the galaxy a while back.
There is a federation capital ship in my home system. Doesn't do much. Just a curiosity to visit.

There is a space installation in my home system too. Even better, the minor faction that I support owns it, so I can go there sometimes and help defend it from attack.
