My ship doesnt show any weathering at all

Despite 100+ jumps, neutron star boosts, landing on planets, getting close to the star to fuel and supercruising my ship doesn't show any weathering at all. The paimntjob is brand new :( I wish there was weathering

agreed it seems to have been phased out with 4.0
despite still being charged for worn out paint ? legacy for actual paint stripping neutrons it seems
a single cruise to hutton and it used to show from a respray
not even flying through a maelstrom caustic cloud actually weathers it
i made sure i wasn't touching it up too...........

we will see if fdev will fix it or not

Well, the issue in the tracker needs more players to confirm it, then, once confirmed, it will need many votes...so the more players who contribute to the issue in the tracker linked above, the more likely it is to get fixed. Without enough players contributing, it will never get on FDev's radar to begin with...

EDIT: this is irrelevant now...

For me, it still seems to work, picture taken just now, 0%. SC is the only thing that counts. The image on the wing is the Golconda logo btw or what's left of it :)

And the paint job is chrome (without the d), maybe that makes a difference.

O7,
🙃

i have not done any long cruises in an age so you guys are probably right or maybe it was a tempoary bug now resolved i was in a chromed cobra when i tested it to hutton like i said an age ago now i ve been goiding using short cruise systems only for some considerble time and i have a habit of hitting the paint touch up 🤷‍♂️
i have a rather vague memory that system authority vessels treat you differently if in an old beat up ship dunno if that is still a thing from back in the beta days never actually tested that ie more prone to scan..........
whilst on the subject of weather i think winter has retuned to se england it feels quite chilly atm gona switch the ac back on fa a spell brrrr🥶

total amount of time spent in supercruise will ware down the paint percentage when you goto advanced maintenance as seen in the picture in post 4
well as long as you dont repaint it that is eg an hours worth should show some ware

how long have you been SC ? or is it just every SC gets like a bit off the paint?
is the speed the only thing matters?
It is a combination. -as i stated getting to 2001c (normal highest speed before SCO), will see the paint stripped quite fast.
-2001c is also an homage to the movie.

As the paint weathering is a testament to your grit and survivability (rebuy = new paint), it is not only one of my favourite mechanics in elite but also most important to me.

So if it ever stops working, i can promise you i will make a lot of rabble. XD

Bonusinfo: There's an interview about the how and the why of the (magnetic) paint and the reason it gets more stripped in SC (AFAIR), is that SC loosens the magnetic bonds.

cheers

Switching ships apparently restores the paint as well. I had my DBX paint down to around 30% when I switched ships for a week of combat. When I switched back, the paint was at 100%.

My testing today consisted of accelerating to 2001c and cruising there for about 5 to 10 minutes, jumping to another system and landing at a ground port to take screenshots.

I usually never see paint weathering as I typically lose at least one ship per day lately... sometimes 3 or 4, If I'm having a good time...

Interesting...

That was a claim made by design back in the good old days, who knows if it's actually in the game or not.

Yup, this sucks hugely. I came back from an trip with a 0% paint dbx I was hugely proud of. I parked it to switch to my Vulture for some combat (I needed a change), got back into my dbx and it was shiny again :'(
Edit: https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/64599 - issue made, please support it!

Never had that happen and I switch regularly, I never repaint my ships and they are all worn away to almost nothing.
