My Thoughts After 25 Hours from a JPOG Fan

I find myself in a weird position with this game. I finished the campaign, and I want to keep playing it. But I don't fancy replaying the campaign. I don't fancy redesigning my existing islands. And the sandbox isn't interesting to me, because of the way it's set up (unlimited cash and the like). So I want to keep playing, but there's nothing I want to do. I know, there's no pleasing some people :)

That's exactly how I feel. I think every 2 minutes, why is there no ..., and why is ..., and what kind of design-choice is that ... and where is ... and what am I doing when I'm through with the "story"? Maybe I will create my own scenario on my own created island! Uumm ...where is the free game mode, why is here just a campaign? Ok then I beautify my parks with statues, bridges, benches, lanterns, banners, skeletons and planting trees in the gaps between the buildings .... ummm, where is this stuff? ..ok...then I beautify just the enclosures with rocks, sand, deep water, waterfalls high grass, different trees and different bushes and ..... wait a second where do I find that? ... ok then ..... yes uummm.....;)

So much potential and it is not used ...

I love the franchise and I was really looking forward to the game and I hope Frontier can use some of the potential.

Woops...but tbh i never saw why they tried to make Jurassic World out to be like a reboot. Its clearly not. JPE...JWE...what does it matter really

I reckon the reboot is more than just its name sake it’s the direction the franchise is going Jurassic world 3 will be a dawn of the planet of the apes kinda film obviously just without talking and sign language using dinosaurs haha

I agree, that headbutting thing from Raptor is one of the most immersion breaking things of that game. But it is kinda the same for the other animals. Having Dinosaurs breaking concrete with their heads is somewhat weird.

Yeah i get that things like rexy or the sauropods might...but...smaller dinos would break their necks first rather than the concrete. And if they wanted the raptors to escape there were otehr ways to go about it

I used to love that...watching the raptors climb up and then get knocked back down to earth was satisfying...not such a clever girl.

In JWE it feels like the steel we are using is actually cleverly painted newspaper and the concrete is actually just Plaster of Paris...i couldn't believe it when i watched the thing literally headbutt its way through a solid steel fence like it was a Pachysaur. It just doesn't feel immersive because its another copied animation. Why not have the raptors climb the fences or jump the fences or even dig under the fences...

Any of the three mentioned would be 100% more immersive....here’s hoping that the Indoraptor has this animation rather than just bashin out.... at least it’ll give us the inspiration that the future may have raptors capible of climbing out of their paddock....

It is believed that Tyrannosaurus could and would of used its head for bashing stuff so T-Rex and sauropods breaking out of concrete is fine, but the others no chance, I think even the I-Rex should climb out rather than break out... Giganotosaurus had fragile skulls in comparison with the T-Rex and as such I think they would be one of the aforementioned dinosaurs thwarted by concrete without even electrifying it....

I mean i know most of my issues MAY be fixed by post launch patches and stuff and i admit maybe we are being too hasty...but after all the hype they directed at us...maybe we expected something less bland

And I think that’s the main issue this game was hyped up so much, that’s what makes it so annoying, but they need criticism, if nothing was ever criticised how would anything ever get better I mean I do 100% believe that by the time the majority of the most damning issues are fixed there will be such a small playerbase they’ll make no money off any of there planed DLC, will make no financial sense so they’ll probs cut it....

Also when I heard they where off to E3 I said to my brothers look the game comes out a day after E3 stats there’s no point in them going unless they’re gonna hype future content imagine if they got on the stage and presented some footage of the fallen kingdom dlc to hype that up and then a couple days after the release hype up another future dlc pack, I get that they didn’t want to spoil the film for American audiences but there’s a book you can buy that does that... so why no get the hype train rolling why not hype up the future dlc road map.... just something to keep fans focused, then like others have mentioned they could put he game down and go play something else safe in the knowledge something awesome is coming, instead they’ve left it and now people get uninterested....

I actually saw a twister pass right through a Spinosaurus. Not only was the Spinosaurus NOT killed; it wasn't even harmed.

Excellent write-up, by the way.

And I truely want this to be the best Jurassic Park/world simulator you can have, I don’t want to see people playing games like prehistoric kingdom making better Jurassic parks/worlds than you can on a Jurassic Park/world game.

I think In the event of a twister no ranger teams no ACU access dinos and guests die.... simple you’ve got dinos dying on the big screen but universal won’t let them die in a game.... that most under 8’s won’t play.. but I guarantee under 8’s go to watch the film...

It does seem a little...censored. Why not just have an option to turn blood and stuff on if thats universal big issue.

Thank you ^^

And yeah...the tornados in this game feel like...soft breezes against the cheek

I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, twisters in JPOG were downright catastrophic. You can have a fantastic, highly profitable, highly rated, successful park...and one little twister is all it takes to destroy it completely. Here, twisters are not nearly as catastrophic. They're more of an inconvenience than a serious danger. On the one hand, it means you don't have to worry about losing your park; on the other hand, it reduces the challenge.

I feel the former is far more important than the latter, as this game is not challenging enough, maybe tweak it so twisters aren’t as often because atm they him me three times in less than a hour and all I do prior to a twister strike is tranq all dinos that need it, so all carnivores, some ceratopsians and pachys then it’s plain sailing as I find stegosaurids won’t even attempt to escape even if the twister has knocked their entire enclosure down

I think theres needs to be more variation in the Natural disasters tbh in general. Heres some ideas...
1) Forest Fires/Building fires
2) Random building malfunctions
3) Flash flooding rainstorms that lower your grassland levels
4) Lightening storms

And those could play into more variation in the sabotage divisions do too.
1) Have divisions start fires
2) Sabotage the engines of the ACU or the rangers
3) Randomly destroy fence sections
4) Randomly poisen guest food/dino food
5) Cut power lines
6) Randomly steal embyos that are incubating/poisen the embryo so it dies or comes out diseased.
7) Randomly open one or two gates, but the map doesn't tell you which meaning you have to go looking
8) Randomly disable your map screen to make finding sabotage or such more difficult.

And division sabotage should be difficult to find.

Yeah they deffo need to implement something like this to give us better varieties of the stuff that already happens at the very least, I think additional stuff like you said would be wonderful

You've got some good ideas Raptor .. I hope you'll copy them into the suggestions thread.

Disagree with you about Pena .. actually my favourite island so far. I think the point with the tornados is managing (raptor and deinonychus) escapes especially, which is tough if your power goes down. The lawsuits from deceased visitors can kill you dead, and I've found Pena really fun to 5 star. .

Do agree about the shops and bowling alley! Though I guess this is a necessary nod to Jurassic World as an intellectual property, which is all about commercialisation. Only upside is the money, of which you make a lot on Tacano, which I found an EXTREMELY tedious 5 star. I'm genuinely looking forward to bulldozing the place, as my dream dino park will not have a bowling alley!

I do think it's fair to say that the islands have different characters so I'm not down on the game myself. I think long term, seeing all five islands like one big one and not worrying about ratings (though cash will still be important) does make this a fun sandbox. The game is not how I expected it was going to be but I don't necessarily see that as a bad thing. Electrical Power and the Dead (People + Dinosaurs) is where the game is good imo, having been designing Triceratops capable of killing a T-Rex.
