Name That Station...

Seconding Laika's Rest, but I'd also like to propose Laika's Leap. I like the alliteration, and the first deep space station is arguably another "giant leap for mankind"

The most factions I have seen in a system is seven. The Pleiades are the seven sisters in mythology. I think the factions could each be a reference to one of the seven sisters and stars in the nebula. I know it doesnt name the station, but I'd rather everyone else figure that out.

  1. Maia, eldest of the seven Pleiades, was mother of Hermes by Zeus.
  2. Electra was mother of Dardanus and Iasion, by Zeus.
  3. Taygete was mother of Lacedaemon, also by Zeus.
  4. Alcyone was mother of Hyrieus, Hyperenor and Aethusa by Poseidon.
  5. Celaeno was mother of Lycus and Nycteus by Poseidon; and of Eurypylus also by Poseidon, and of Lycus and Chimaereus by Prometheus
  6. Sterope (also Asterope) was mother of Oenomaus by Ares.
  7. Merope, youngest of the seven Pleiades, was wooed by Orion. In other mythic contexts she married Sisyphus and, becoming mortal, faded away. She bore to Sisyphus several sons.

Or the factions could be named after a son of each of the sisters in respect to what they are the god of to avoid immersion breaking like, The Hermes Delivery Service.

How about:
'Endeavour's Horizon'

'Endeavour' is in reference to the ship commanded by James Cook, upon which he took the first of three voyages to map the then unknown Pacific Ocean. It is also in reference to the sheer time and effort put in by the community as a whole to make this achievement happen.
'Horizon' refers to the line between the seen and unseen, the known and the unknown; The line that this station is being built to help explorers push. Explorers who, like James Cook, are out mapping the vast unknown.

Perhaps a tad dramatic but I thought it was fitting. The reason I went for a more generic station name is for the sake of fairness. If we can categorically say that one specific member of our community started this push and then others joined in then fair enough, I can understand if the station was to be named for/by them. However, if the idea was had by multiple members of the community and they all started to push at the same time, it would not be so fair to have one recognised over the others.

Please Obsidian Orbital- that guy does such great work for the community, and i dont know if he came up with the idea for this station, but he certainly made the most public push for it.
