Name That Station...

Holy biowaste, you guys went crazy with this thread.

Laika's rest is great.
So is Seven Sisters station

My vote is more technical and direct if we're avoiding references: Pleiades Gateway

It's interesting there are a few people who have pushed at similar times for the CG.

Obsidian Ant obvioulsy did publically push for the event. As did Walt Kerman in a completely locked off an different corner of the community. And I'm hearing Ben Ryder (the legend, the myth, the enigma) was also pushing for it.

Solution:

Kerydian Terminal

Kerydian Terminal (as posted by CMDR Ziljan) [+1 to Kerydian Terminal ..I like that one as it cover all 3 of those CMDRs very nicely]

There are many who pushed for this but the 3 names I keep seeing are Ben Ryder, Obsidian Ant, & Walt Kerman...here are some other ideas to cover those 3 CMDRs....

Kerydian Orbital

Kerman Ant Ryder Orbital

Ant Ryder Kerman Hub

Obsidian Walt Ben Hub

Obsidian Ben Walt Terminal

Ryder Ant Kerman Hub

Ryder Kerman Ant Terminal

The Fellowship

Community Depot

Frontier 5

Rest Stop Orbital

E : D - 1

Colony Hub

ObsidianAnt Outpost

+1 for Obsidian Orbital ... and I do like the idea of an Ob-Ant voice-over however I suspect that all stations all use the same sound files and making a separate one for a single station might be too much trouble and might have to wait for a client side patch.

I also like the idea of Rares & Faction names for the other top promoters of this fine endeavour.
How about a badge for your ship that is only available or equip-able from this station? and other tourism fluff for the outer reaches of occupied space.

Not all stations use the same announcers - Jacques Station is voiced by its long lived cyborg namesake. It's unlikely that Obsidian Ant would get to do the new station's announcements, but if he did, it wouldn't be the first station in the game to have a unique announcer.

Laika Orbital-- Laika something

Some guy made a reddit post some of you may remember about this. Laika was a dog flown into space by the USSR. She died Nov 3 1957 in Low Earth Orbit.
Her sacrifice paved the way for human spaceflight.
Her death is in a single day. What better way to commemorate this dog than name our exploration station after her?

Ant Hill

A place for the weary explorer to relax and listen to the delightful tonnes of Obsidian Ant on the tannoy.

Given it's out in the middle of nowhere, it should be called "NowWhat" (or if it is orbitting a planet, the planet could be called "NowWhat" and the station called "OhWell").

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Places_in_The_Hitchhiker's_Guide_to_the_Galaxy#NowWhat
"According to the novel Mostly Harmless, "the planet of NowWhat had been named after the opening words of the first settlers to arrive there after struggling across light-years of space to reach the furthest unexplored outreaches of the Galaxy. The main town was called OhWell."

tannhauser gate

OK...+1 on the first suggestion up...I am currently wearing a t-shirt with Rutger Hauer's final adlibbed lines from Blade Runner.

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the darkness at TANHAUSER GATE"

Can't go past this one

Although I have previously advocated Obsidian should have his name to it, I do like the sense of purpose and apt descriptiveness of this Pleiades Gateway ... it's a good name and gets my salute ! +1

"One Small Step Port"

or

"Fyrestone Horizons"

or

"Fridtjof Nansen Memorial" in honor of the famed Norwegian Arctic and Antarctic explorer

or

"Fram Hub" in honor of the arctic and antarctic exploration vessel

or

"Kuznetsov Station" in honor of the Soviet 1948 expedition with the first people verified without doubt to set foot on the north pole
