Need a little help on return to the game

So not been able to play for around 18months but a new lap top means I can fire up and fly out. Obviously coming back after such a gap means a heck of a lot has changed, had to re do most of my key bindings (absolute chore) but luckily muscle memory Means I’ve managed to fix that, ALL except for one thing. Now I used to have my discovery button as my top trigger, drop into a system I’d stay stationary, hold the trigger and scan the system problem is this no longer seems to be the case and thus my need for help.
I’ve gone into the menu and changed the binding For ‘Discovery Scan’ to ‘top trigger’ yet nothing happens when I pull it (Q childish sniggering) so what am I doing wrong?
What’s changed?
Or more likely what have I forgotten?
Any and all help most gratefully recieved, ive got a week off work so thought I would do some discovering but at the moment I couldn't discover My backside with a discovery scanner

Since you haven't gotten the "wrong mode" message in the HUD, I'm assuming you just haven't assigned it a fire group. Once you do that, you'll need to switch to the exploration HUD as opposed to the Combat HUD, which I believe will have been new since 18 months ago but can't remember.

Yeah I was in the wrong mode, it’s slowly all coming back to me. FSS was out last time i played it’s just a case of remembering and then attaching the key binding from muscle memory. Thanks folks now off into the deep I wonder how long it will be before I need to remember how to repair the ship🤔🤔🤔

Is there a link to where the DSSA Fc's are?? Please help me find it. I've been out in the black a few times and Barnard's loop was the only place 'so far' that I found any.
Help is much appreciated :) o7
