Need help with my sons elite dangerous account

My son (11 year old) has been watching his old dad play elite dangerous for the last while and decided he wanted it for himself. So I bought him Elite Dangerous through his steam account (my old steam account) which is great and hes playing away loving it. NOW..... I noticed today that horizons is on offer on steam so bought him that tonight (early christmas present) but when trying to run it it asked me to log onto his elite dangerous account? The standard game never asked us to setup an account so this is were it gets complicated. His steam account being my old steam account is on the same e-mail as my frontier account which I setup before ED was on steam (if that makes sense). So I setup a new frontier account for him using his mums e-mail address which allowed me to redeem the horizons season pass no problem but if I try redeem the ED product code it says its already used. Trying to launch ED from steam just gives an error now.

Any ideas whats going on?

You're going to need customer support on this.
Personally, I do remember needing an email since day one.
And apparantly every copy of elite needs its own email account.
*Disclaimer*, I never used steam for this game, so not sure how this affects your situation.

EUS is right, definitely need CS to be involved. When you bought the base game on your son's Steam account it may have linked it to your old email on the FD side. If you log into the frontier store with your old email and go to My Account -> Account Dashboard -> on the left panel select "Partner Keys" and see if the Steam key for the base game is associated with that FD account. If it is that's probably why it is regarding it in use. I'm sure CS will fix it for you.

Cheers guys it is a diddly of a pickle.

I checked in my own ED account and its not there. I honestly don't remember setting up an account when originally downloading ED for him but then again that could be part of the old dad thing haha.

I'll send in a ticket and hopefully it'll get sorted soon.
