Need way of posting to inship chat window while in VR?

I've set a hat switch on my thrustmaster to automatically bring the chat window to focus.
Now I need a way of posting a message to the cursor of the chat window via a button press?
Can this be done?
If you have done this via the Thrustmaster HOTAS please let me know how, the tools with the Thrustmaster are way too confusing.

The best you can do at the moment is to use Voice Attack.

There are two ways.

1. Assign pre set messages to voice commands. For example when I say "Dropship" the message "Dropship" is texted to the comm's panel. You can have longer messages. Mainly I use this for Bounty Hunting when winged up.

The message is sent to your wing by default if you are winged or your current target if it's a player or just to "local".

If you get VA you need to assign the first command as a link to the "Quick Comm's" (Left Shift) command in your bindings.

2. Use the dictation function in Voice Attack so you can speak and this is sent as a text message. Personally I don't like this as it often comes out as gibberish. Others may disagree.

Voice Attack (VA) is free to trial and has good functionality in its trial version. It's only $10 to buy, I bought it almost immediately and have never regretted it and use it every time I play (in VR).

Then of course if you are in VR you can use VA to activate many other commands.

Buy it. Program it. Love it. With just a single word or short phrase, you can effectively ctrl-v an essay.

Git 'r done :) It's cheap, and works for many other games.

Edit: I also run this game exclusively in VR. Couldn't do what I do without that Voice Attack app.

Unfortunatly I can't use voice comms as I play in a family enviroment.
Getting the chat window to focus is easy and can be mapped to a hat switch. Pressing enter is easy via a button.

Yeah VA can pick up on TV, dogs woofing, kids screaming etc. I only use it when it's just me and the Mrs & kids are in bed. I've told my wife to ignore me when I say things like "tank", "weapons", "request docking" etc
