Network security

im aware of this and after playing a game of use of the pc, I remove the network cable from the network

Stupid thing to do as when you are playing online you have more ports open... Ports that are known and can be leveraged to gain access. Best thing for those with this level of paranoia or sensitive data stored on there gaming PC should never play an online game ever... They are watching and waiting for you to load up a game!

Or you could just maintain a decent network policy and protection ensuring you never get any issues but I'll leave that for you to figure out.

With the Americans trying to abolish net neutrality and the British government proposing to regulate and control the internet, a 9% Chinese share in FD is probably not the most pressing issue.

So much this.
We should all be very worried about net neutrality and us Brits could find our selves having May and her cronies deciding what is acceptable for is to look at online.

Politics aside, if Ajit Pai and the American FCC is stupid enough to do away with neutrality in their own backyard, I hope our lot in the UK aren't blind enough to follow suit to the same degree in the years to come.

You could but any of the other parties aren't in power.
My point still stands though do you want the government (red blue or yellow) deciding what news you can view or what web site is in good taste for you?

Which I suspect we're slowly heading towards already, with the type of news and the slant / bias of it, that our UK media seems to have. Independent news sites seem to be the most interesting, not our BBC or newspapers.

edit... no idea why this didn't merge with my previous comment but never mind.

I don't want to talk about politic but how will my network to be guaranteed safe
Now a chinese company have 9% of the shares of Frontier you will ge acces to the chinese market but we know all also about chinese hackers that work for the chinese intelligy that search for information.

Fun Fact: all your hardware is produced in Asian countries, including China...
Do you worry here, too?

LOL... OP should be more worried about China players starting to find exploits and farm rather than hack your systems. They don't hack end users' systems unless to install a botnet. ED doesn't have a wide-enough playerbase for a botnet. They'd have better results in, say, WoW.

Chinese are also known for other traits other than "hacking"... "making money" is one of them. The 9% share in FD is probably a "make money" decision rather than a "let's hack the decadent West!" decision.

ps: I'm Chinese too... you afraid of me now? :D You know, I might just hack you when you play.....

Having a Chinese company investing stock to Frontier Developments does not change how our games networking code functions. It remains as is.

How about P2P connection latency? Can we ask/expect to get an option to limit the ping to acceptable levels with connections from China?

How is P2P working right now? Can we be matched in the same instance with high latency people or there is some filtering?

Will the Chinese have their own servers?

This thread is the best thing ever.

Another troll thread with a FD reply on the first page?
Nothing special.

Check out the beige plague thread, took em a month, 1400 replies and 100 pages for a response, on a topic that actually impacts the game.
But some drunk dutch dude spreading ill written conspiracy theories? Quickly! Dispatch the community manager!
