Hmm... more like Australia than Oceania really...It's good now that the top 20 animals are basically all Europe and Oceania with a couple of South America and Africa thrown in.
Well, yeah, but I'm saying "Oceania" because I think a more encompassing pack is more likely than a second Australia Pack.Hmm... more like Australia than Oceania really...
Yeah... I dunno... looking at the meta list and the options... sounds more like an Australia Pack 2 in everything but name...Well, yeah, but I'm saying "Oceania" because I think a more encompassing pack is more likely than a second Australia Pack.
You misunderstand me - I'm not talking about the list itself, but the fact that it's more likely that Frontier will make an "Oceania Pack" rather than an "Australia Pack 2".Yeah... I dunno... looking at the meta list and the options... sounds more like an Australia Pack 2 in everything but name...
Erm... yeah... I get that... but how different from an Australia Pack 2 would it actually be? I mean, among the most popular choices are Tasmanian Devil, Emu, Platypus, Wombat and Bennett's Wallaby... that's five Australian animals right there...You misunderstand me - I'm not talking about the list itself, but the fact that it's more likely that Frontier will make an "Oceania Pack" rather than an "Australia Pack 2".
They don't only pull from the top of the list. If they approach the region again, which is already unlikely, it's a safe bet that they might touch on New Zealand as well.Erm... yeah... Gosh I hope so, KIWIS PLEASEThey don't only pull from the top of the list. If they approach the region again, which is already unlikely, it's a safe bet that they might touch on New Zealand as well.
Pshh, tasmanian devils and bennetts wallaby are not australian, but tasmanian, just sayingErm... yeah... I get that... but how different from an Australia Pack 2 would it actually be? Pretty sure Tasmania counts as Australia... it's a state of Australia after all and located right off the coast...Pshh, tasmanian devils and bennetts wallaby are not australian, but tasmanian, just saying
Not really - the main difference between Tasmania and the mainland is that some animals wiped out on the mainland survive(d) in Tassie (devils & tassie tigers) whilst some others aren’t in Tasmania due to it being too cold back in the last glacial maximum (~12,000 years ago) when it was connected to the mainland, or having been wiped out in tassie after Europeans arrived (e.g., emus) or before that by indigenous Australians. On the whole, there’s not much ecological difference between Tasmania (where I lived until a year ago) and the south eastern part of the mainland (where I grew up and live now). Tasmania is 100% a part of Australia. A better comparison the France vs New Caledonia is Europe vs Britain… the separation from the mainland for Britain is ~ 6500 years, for Tasmania its ~8000 years. But do political borders have anything to do with animal "borders"?
Or do you want to tell me that every animal and plant from new caledonia should be considerd french?
Tasmania as an island has a unique ecosystem and vastly different biomes to australia, so it should be considerd different, especally when australia is a landmass seperate from tasmania
Are you going to tell me Japan, Sri Lanka and the islands of South East Asia aren't Asia? The United Kingdom isn't Europe? Madagascar isn't Africa? But do political borders have anything to do with animal "borders"?

Madagascar isn’t a great example - it’s been separated from India (it’s parent continent) for about 88,000,000 years (compared to <10,000 years for each of the other islands, including Tasmania) and does form a very distinctive ecological/evolutionary region. It’s been separated from Africa for ~150,000,000 years. Are you going to tell me Japan, Sri Lanka and the islands of South East Asia aren't Asia? The United Kingdom isn't Europe? Exactly. As I've maintained since 2019, the kiwi and tuatara together would be enough representation for New Zealand in this game IMO.Gosh I hope so, KIWIS PLEASE

I think about it from a modding perspective of animations we're currently missing. Quite candidly, if Frontier is unwilling or unable to include these features (for whatever reason they may have!), then I think it isn't unreasonable to wish for the tools that would allow the modding community to fill in the gaps! Most zoos I've been to feature at least some aquatic exhibits and several avian residents -- I feel the game simply won't be complete without representation of those groups. My great fear is that a theoretical Planet Zoo 2 will start over from scratch without the inclusion of all the original game featured... I'm not opposed to a sequel, but only if that sequel is a worthwhile upgrade from all the wonderful things the current game has to offer.
