New 2024 Livestream series!

I like that idea, as well as the thought of taking an Apex taxi all the way to Colonia. ;)
There are passenger missions to transport someone on exactly that route, maybe we should be allowed to give such a mission ourselves, and charter a ride with another CMDR...

Hi :)

Too late there was enough material in the stream for the code breakers in the forum to extract any “promise” they wanted. So you can be sure that some are already drooling over the open only ship interiors that will be coming soon(tm)

colonising a planet could be fun, of course the proof in the pudding etc etc etc.

a bit of a shame we can't go out into the deep black and just pick a planet. years ago I flagged a few interesting systems with a view.to one day colonising them... but I guess that won't be possible with this system as they are miles out!.

Yeah, colonisation seems (from the sparse but understandably sketchy information we have at the moment) that it could have the potential to be fun gameplay.
What the actual distances involved are in terms of how far out one can start the colonisation process is another unknown quantity. That would depend on where that 'distance' is measured from. Is it taken from somewhere inside the bubble, or would it for example be taken from one of the last outer inhabited systems. There are quite a few 'satellite' systems that are away from the main concentrations of bubble systems and that are also inhabited. I won't name any of them here as that might be a spoiler for some players, suffice to say they vary in individual distances, so what constitutes those parameters as being too far out. I guess that means you have to create 'stepping stones', as was said I think?... that you have to complete a certain amount of colonisation in one system (which also might obviously depend on what's considered as complete) before you can move further out and create another.

The Colonisation 'Carrier'...that's interesting!
Would that be player owned, similar in aspect as player owned carriers are purchased currently, if so, what price. If the CC (Colonisation Carrier) isn't purchasable then how is one to use it. I suppose it could be that we can't own them as such but the major in game factions can...what that would mean to the overall deployment of a CC in a system and colonising gameplay as a result of this I haven't much of an idea!
As Arf & Zac mentioned these CC ships are huge, so if a player could buy one it would quite possibly be far in excess of 5 billion. Another offshoot...a calculated game credit sink feature maybe?

Depot Stations.
Again, would this be player owned, and what would be used first, Depot or CC...or do they work in tandem with one another.

Going back to what you said above "a bit of a shame we can't go out into the deep black and just pick a planet". In a sense we could, if you look at it from the perspective of the 'stepping stone' mechanics, it would take quite a long time though, and that would also depend on how much effort / time a player was prepared to give to this project.

Okay, until we get some more information in the next livestream all this is obviously a mute point...the other thing to consider is again as you state "colonising a planet could be fun, of course the proof in the pudding etc etc etc."...Yes, I agree, we don't know at this moment in time just how much overall control a player really has over these various Colonisation mechanics.
Edit...'Updating'...😂
Jack :)

This game gets more and more away from this sci-fi thematic. Also, my favorite Sci-Fi film. Along with Outland and Alien (before Scott's meddling), the mood I had for Elite Dangerous.

And, so much for the rumored denser atmosphere/weather effects. Or NPC crew on the cockpit (a desire of mine). Guess they really stop to meddle with the graphics department. One year waiting for this. Share holders are loving it.

Not to mention 4 more weeks for the type-8 to be available for the little people like myself.

Instead of just making new ships better and better stat-wise so they can sell their packages (not a bad strategy for making the game alive though, of course), how about giving some loving tweaks to the old little and medium ships? So they'll be more viable to accompany the new ones and the old meta. What's the point of buying kits for them if it's better to save for the end-metaships?

I was really hoping for a medium Saud Kruger, that I could use to travel far and do more exploring stuff for my passengers.

But... A new Cobra is always a new Cobra. The design is beautifull. And of course it's going to be overhall better than the last new ones, to keep following the trend like many other online games.
Scott directed Alien, Cameron "meddled".

as much as FD in the past have over egged some features, this assumption was on you I am afraid.
FD made no such intimations and multiple people warned that some appeared to be going a little off the deep end & were setting themselves up for disappointment.
imo what they announced today was more new content for the game since Oddy launched.
it's not full DLC levels of content and i fear we will never see that again in ED. but it's something ateast.
Yes, you're right. I was actually not hoping for that much. I guess it was just a stupid childish tatrum of mine. It didn't help that I just watched some videos from a indie game called SpaceBourne 2, of planets with weather effects, even snow. It was clunky, of course, being an indie. But at the same time, awesome. And also, jetpacks in space!

My main hope was for the type-8 release on each update delay. Unfortunately I don't have money to spend on the Mamba, which I would love to buy; and the 8 was something to hold onto until and/or if I manage to spent money on Arx (lot of bad news IRL that keep getting worse). I'm tired of piloting on the Krait's cockpit, but unfortunately, is the best ship for my current needs, where my bad piloting is more forgived. Would like to try the 8 since I saw a video of it with some groovy music from Starcraft II. Gave me good vibes. sigh four more weeks, I guess

But I do feel a little peeved, because it seems that there is nothing on the update that could serve for people like me, who aren't interested in powerplay combat. But I also do agree that the feature can be good for the active community.

Sorry. I was not precise there.

Scott directed Alien. Then he meddled years latter with the new edition (the one in blu-ray, i think – it was many years ago). There were one/two good things there, but to me they are overshadowed by many bad ones.

This is my personal opinion, of course, but I'm not in the mood – or have the capacity these days – to waste time on subjects like him. I still love the old classics (alien, legend, blade runner), but those on account of all the people involved in the production, even him.

I would wonder if there's potential for that sort of thing down the line based on the success of this. I would be sure it had to be have been discussed as an option before deciding on the final framework of the feature.

Heh, I've long been getting the impression I'm the only person on the planet who likes the voiceover in Bladerunner... :7

If players get to decide where to plop down surface installations, I suppose that would be an something begging for prospecting gameplay, to find a location rich in ore to situate an exctraction facility, and so on, such as a sunny spot with a water source close by for agriculture... Tourism might favour someplace with a spectacular view, or an environment conducive to sporting, which might be harder to quantify, on account of leaning into the matter of subjectivity. :7

I love the versions with the voiceover like the old Philip Marlowe movies, I was so disappointed that that was removed in the directors cut.

maybe less planco 2 time (48 mins)? really
and more on there game Elite dangerous instead of 50 mins of planco then 20 mins planet zoo and squeeze of elite dangerous if we can fit it in at the end.
Well the squeeze of Elite Dangerous lasted for 20-25 minutes finishing at about 15 minutes past the hour. So not too bad considering the show is about Frontiers games not just this one no matter how much we wish otherwise.

we had this problem from the start, when they announced elite Dangerous odysseys. when it was the old format. 1 game different streams. even then they were less and less focus on elite and more focus on planet zoo. they should format it so all the games get equal time. not oh we have to talk about elite now! do we really care.

This whole 'last Wednesday of the month' is really too complicated for some isn't it?

Imagine what they're gonna go when they find there's nothing at all* in December :D

* well, there may be an xmas one earlier in the month, but that will only be a couple of weeks after the next FU, so I don't know they will bother
