Yeah, you pretty much nailed every flaw with this 'plot' of yours.
DOOOOMMEEEDDDD!!!! DDDDOOOMMMEEEDDD!!! I say!
SDC:
The way the operation is structured, if Harry wants to destroy the protagonist, then he's going to have to destroy himself, because he is the protagonist
God-moding:
I'm not really god-moding. We're just flying from point A to point B, and inviting others to try and stop us.
Best PvPers:
We've made public exactly where the transport vessels are starting from and stopping. Our opposition only has to destroy or pirate two ships. A sufficiently large and organized opposition should be able to take out two ships travelling a 1000 lightyear route with few opportunities to repair.
Lore Highjacking:
I'm not highjacking Elite lore. I am Elite lore.
Griefing:
The event has roleplay backstory, a roughly specified ruleset, a scheduled time and place. What more would we have to do in order for people to stop calling it griefing?
No impact on the galaxy:
This is just not true. If SAI-4 is activated, I have an enthusiastic volunteer that will begin live roleplaying SAI-4 in open. Commanders across the galaxy will begin having random encounters with him, as a long term continuation of the "story".
Discriminates against solo players:
That's just ridiculous. Of course multi-player events exclude players do not like multi-player events. So what though?
Cheating:
It's an open ended roleplay event with very loose "rules". This is not a formal tournament, its more like a catalyst for organic PvP and emergent roleplay.
Instancing:
The 1000 lightyear route leads to hundreds of opportunities to instance with the transport vessels. Aside from that, participants need not instance with the transports to make a difference. They can just focus on thinning the opposition's numbers.
Cry for attention:
Yes, the promotion of the event is a cry for attention. All advertisement is a cry for attention. Frontiers trailers for new releases are cries for attention.
