New Mining Ship for Beyond - Looking for feed back before purchase

Any ship for deep core only needs
1 Seismic Charge launcher and 1 Abrasion Blaster.
1 Refinery and Pulse wave scanner.
Collector limpet and Prospector limpet controllers
along with Cargo and DSS

Regarding your Phantom build.
The Seismic charge launcher will fit in the medium slot. you could free up two large hardpoints for weapons if you feel they are needed. As i have yet to find a use for multiple Seismic charge launchers.
Also noticed they are turrets, plan on bringing along a friend?
Every time you drop into a hotspot the game will spawn NPC's to scan you for goodies they can steal. (or always did while i was mining)
As stated prior, a smaller prospector limpet will work just as well, most of the time you are looking at the color of an asteroid and launching a prospector if you suspect it holds what your are looking for.
Im guessing the engineering you have set to the internals was for a reason, but i would recommend Engine focused or charge enhanced over the weapon focus (you dont have weapons and the mining tools use very little)

My thoughts behind it are. if i have valuable cargo i have two options when confronted. Stay and duke it out or run.
If i run i want engine enhanced so i can boost more often, and a A rate shields to last longer before taking hull damage. along with point defense to ward off hatch breaker limpets.
If i stay and fight i need those two large hard points for weapons. and the charge enhanced power distributor will help support that without degrading my boot and shields nearly as bad as weapon focused.

Thank you. I will lose a seismic and make them fixed. I had thought that the turrets would auto track for me. If you're saying they won't then I will go for fixed ones. On my final build I'd abandoned the distributor mod but I will sling in an engine focused. However I plan on going outside the bubble to hoard my own hotspots :) My chosen home base is near the edge of occupied territories so I can make it to pristine systems within a half dozen jumps. As I write this I realise I may get jumped on my way back to sell said resources and I will take that into consideration as I play.

Yeah turrets do not auto track like you would expect. mining turrets are primarily for multi-crew
Even outside the bubble NPC's will spawn, if your cargo is empty you have no problems, but if you happen to leave and come back with cargo that can cause issues. Normally you can boost far enough away from the new signals they they wont follow you. Or in my case (because it was an anarchy system) i just blasted them before they could scan me.

Damn you and your fancy Krait Mk II :D. Is 72t Cargo enough? I wants that ship preciousss
Is 72 Tons enough? not compared to my friends 128 , he used a python. but 72 was enough for void opals.
We mined togeahter, i was the muscle just in case of NPC pirates. he was the phat loots.

Sure you can drop some modules like the FSD Booster, for more cargo, but i don't like slow boating to and fro.
If a hotspot runs dry for me i want to be able to get to another in less then 2-3 jumps. or quickly reach the best station buying void opals in a few hops.
Less chance of running into hostiles mathematically speaking.

Edit: keep in mind when looking to sell, if you pick the best station your chances of running into a player pirate is much higher as they can find the same information.
But my encounters with player pirates have been fair , only asking for 1 or 2 Tons. your mileage may vary.

Thanks, Northpin - that one is outside my budget. I have maximum of 150 million that I'm willing to spend. So Wetwire's example is the one I'm going to go for. Minus the guardian FSD booster as I've not unlocked them yet. I don't mind taking the longer route.

Maybe hone your core mining skills locally first OP.
You really don’t need to go hunting down core asteroids in deep space (yet). The nearest ice ring will do the job fine, just drop in anywhere, it doesn’t even have to be a hotspot.

The asteroids that can be exploded, are really bright, almost burning is the best way I can describe it. ^

Have fun...

Ah a budget. my build was over that budget too.
But with some modifications and limiting the engineering to grade 3, (exception on the FSD) Because im unsure of what all you can engineer.
maybe this Krait build is more in tune with what you are looking for.
Coming in at 112Mil
using 104T of cargo (you expressed 72 was not nearly enough)
and forgot to add the DSS in the original to find those hotspots in the first place.

oh no.. the 150 is fine. My total funds are 193 million so 150 something leaves me with enough headroom to survive. in fact you could even go so far as to say it was spot on

As much as I dislike actually flying the Python (it's called Cosmic Hippo for more than just song name purposes), it's hands-down made me the most amount of raw credits than all the rest of my ships combined. I first used it for mission running and BGS work, and then outfitted it as a miner.

I'm currently in my Krait II scanning high wakes outside a station to collect Datamined Wake Exceptions before I go see Felicity Farseer.

AspX core mining vessel. 100t cargo, all the goodies, very agile, great cockpit vision

Only 27.7m credits plus engineering. Highly profitable outfit and great outfit to learn core mining.

AspX "Metallurgist"

EDIT: This outfit should net you over 150m credits per trip. You don't need long range, and if you're traveling far enough that you need a scoop then you're doing it all wrong. Weapons are just extra baggage.

Personally, I think it's undeniable that the Python is a superior ship to the Krait for mining.
The Krait is definitely more agile so it makes placing seizmic charges a little bit easier and it's easier to get in among the chunks to chip off ore.
The Python, however, has a better selection of internal slots so you can build a better all-round mining ship.

I wouldn't worry too much about the cost of the ship, TBH.
First time you go mining and collect 128t of VOs, it's going to earn you Cr200m and pay for the ship.

If cash is short, you can build a really nice little mining ship out of an AspX for around Cr30m.
It'll earn you Cr100m the first time you go VO mining and it's the sort of ship you can just transfer around and have a session of mining whenever you find a suitable spot.

When you're okay with spending the credits, a Python miner will be all you really ever need.

Haha :) thanks guys. This is awesome. I have plopped for the Krait II - I realise I could have done it cheaper but it's all good. I have weapons, scoops and range. I'm having a lot of fun. Just off to Fujin at the moment for teat. I hear Broo Tarquin likes that stuff, though 50 tons? he's got real problem there. I love the way this thread came full circle.. Python - Krait - Aspx - Python and the starts over again with the Krait.

Why did I pick Krait? It's got the teeth for the smaller NPC's the boost to run away from the bigger NPC's the Cargo to hold a small fortune and the most important thing of all - I think it's so pretty. I just want a hot pink painjob for it now.
