No, the typo is "Bollywood" - they are making a rhythm action romance game where you play as a slightly-too-old man with a haircut like Tony Hadley from Spandau Ballet and unwarranted self-confidence, and you have to win the heart of a squeaky-voiced girl and win over her draconian parents by successfully completing set-piece dance routines. The subplot will be lifted wholesale from a 1980s Cannon Films direct-to-video action movie.
It could really be anything within the clues given (Franchise, Enduring, Globally renowned, Movie).
I don't think they are going to create something that competes directly with Elite. Space sims are still a niche even if on the rise.
Space themed is another thing.
Also, Frontier are very careful, and seem to be very adamant that they don't overstretch their resources.
I personally think we have to look at movies being released in 2018 (they expect the new game to start bringing in revenue in 2018). I think they would want to gain traction by releasing at the same time as a new movie in the Franchise.
Looking at the list of 2018 movies on IMDB there is a lot to choose from, but with a bit of filtering and selecting on feature film releases the top 25 according to popularity on IMDB are. If we include December 2017 releases we get a couple more that might be relevant:
(I have excluded December 2018 releases).
1. Ocean's Eight (2018)
2. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
3. Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film (2018)
4. Black Panther (2018)
5. Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018)
6. Aquaman (2018)
7. Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018)
8. The Predator (2018)
9. Deadpool 2 (2018)
11. Bad Boys for Life (2018)
12. Meg (2018)
13. The Incredibles 2 (2018)
14. Jungle Book (2018)
15. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
16. Robin Hood (2018)
17. Fifty Shades Freed (2018)
18. White Boy Rick (2018)
19. Untitled Jurassic World Sequel (2018)
20. Tomb Raider (2018)
21. M:I 6 - Mission Impossible (2018)
22. Alita: Battle Angel (2018)
23. The Equalizer 2 (2018)
24. A Wrinkle in Time (2018)
25. Holmes and Watson (2018)
1. Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017)
2. Jumanji (2017)
Looking at that list and then excluding, what I with my limited knowledge, deem as not being world renowned film franchises I'm left with:
(I have also taken out Star Wars as somebody here said EA has an exclusive there).
1. Ocean's Eight (2018)
2. Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
5. Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018)
6. Aquaman (2018) (DC Comics)
7. Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018)
8. The Predator (2018)
9. Deadpool 2 (2018)
13. The Incredibles 2 (2018)
15. Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
19. Untitled Jurassic World Sequel (2018)
21. M:I 6 - Mission Impossible (2018)
25. Holmes and Watson (2018)
2. Jumanji (2017)
Take your pick.
I think many of these are likely candidates, but my short list would be:
5. Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018)
7. Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018)
9. Deadpool 2 (2018)
19. Untitled Jurassic World Sequel (2018)
21. M:I 6 - Mission Impossible (2018)
Edit: There are a few that have dropped out owing to my filtering in IMDB. Blade Runner is one with release in October 2017. A few more are Spider Man and My Little Pony . I still think we are looking at a 2018 or possibly late 2017 release though.
It is possible to analyse this a bit further. If we consider that FDEV would want to maximise the demographic for the new franchise, I doubt that Deadpool is a good candidate. A game based on Deadpool would have to stay true to the Deadpool world and concept. That would mean an adult rated game. So probably no. I left it on the list as, given the footage I have seen from the Outsider, it may well be something they would consider. There is also a film number 3 listed on IMDB, which makes the Franchise fairly future proof.
Edit: The most likely in my view is Jurassic World. That would open up two paths for the new Franchise. Both FPS and Theme Park. this would be a win - win for FDEV and even open up the possibility of having Jurassic World as an add-on for Planet Coaster.
-- David's list includes: "Landing on planets, walking around inside your ship, boarding other ships, walking around inside stations, big game hunting, having multiple players in the same ship where they cooperate, some work the guns, that sort of thing ".
Someone brought this up over on the Planet Coaster forum, I played the crap out of this game and quite frankly would LOVE to see Frontier pick this title up because from the work I've sen on PC I know they would do a good job with it. Not only with teh movie making side of it, but it would be interesting to manage the theme park side of a movie studio as well, sort of like Universal Studios
It's probably Boyhood. After all, it took twelve years to make.
Or Star Wars Episode II. The most disappointing thing since my son.
Or Rogue One. It's like being dead for 120 minutes, but you're having popcorn.
I think they may have hinted at that by saying a famous British film franchise, of which their basically two Harry Potter and James Bond.
Fact they said Hollywood eliminates that.
I would say something Fast an the Furious, Jason Bourne franchise (which would link to Outsider at one point). Of cause it could be something Pixar, they have mention that a lot of their animation team comes from Pixar which gives them connections to that company.
I wouldn't have thought that another Sci-fi genre game would be the thing to do. I'll plump for Fantastic Beasts, since Frontier have a history of the best video game animals.
I also like the Bond/Bourne idea, as at one point The Outsider was rumoured to be turning into a Bourne title for EA. Bond's more fun though.
Frontier don't have massive experience / shown much interested in games with cinematics. On that front, the ideas above don't work?
Edit: what I mean is a film licence that translates well to game mechanics without the need lots of cutscenes.
Something base on Pixar Cars wouldn't need cut scenes, wouldn't neccessary need to be base on the movie. After all it cars racing around tracks, they can do their own story.
Admittedly their not many other franchises out there that can be translated as easily from film to game without cut scenes.
So, I hate to say this, but is anyone else a bit concerned that whatever this new franchise is, it might siphon development off of Elite? I mean we are behind schedule already, can Elite really afford to lose more ground?
I doubt very much that Frontier will be hiring an entirely new staff for whatever this new game is, so it is very likely that staff will be pulled from Elite and Planet Coaster to work on the new game. I have to say that I'm a bit concerned...
Only one that I seen that had positive review was the Pixar Cars games, but honestly it not hard to create a driving game, so the dev team had a advantage their.
Cambridge News says its an Harry Potter Game. Not sure how Frontier would have been able to afford that franchise through, may be J. K. Rowling insisted it goes to a British game studio.

That was back in 2000! The last Harry Potter Game from EA was released in 2011. There usually a clause in such rights that if you aren't using them they revert back to the owner, in this case Rowling, through it could easily be Warner Brothers in this case.
The last 2 Harry Potter Games came from Sony London Studio, the book of spells and the book of potions , and then before that Warner Interactive Entertainment, which suggests EA hasn't had the rights since 2011.
Personally I have my doubts. But then the number of franchises that fits Frontier description is pretty small, Harry Potter happens to fit to a T through.
The Fantastic Beasts sequel is due next year. I think a family friendly creasture related game does tie into FDev's expertise quite nicely.
The movies themselves should be running for the next 8 years or so, on top of the Harry Potter connection.
The game(s) can also be tied to the film/book universe without having to be tied to specific films, which I think is also an important features of whatever franchise they've picked up.
