General / Off-Topic New movie based FD game in development... guess the franchise!

Never heard of the passengers movie...I guess going up against Rogue One was a bad idea, lol. Still 97 million in box office isn't too terrible, despite the critical panning of the movie. I'll watch it during my next Hutton trip :p

But, no franchise there, I don't think.

I'm thinking it'll be more first person based and not necessarily sci-fi, something to make good use of that aspect of the cobra engine whilst it's also being introduced into ED season 3/4....crafting/survival I suspect as that's what all games houses seem to want to do at the mo

As for the movie it's based on, no clue....ghost in the shell would be cool....

I wouldn't have thought that another Sci-fi genre game would be the thing to do. I'll plump for Fantastic Beasts, since Frontier have a history of the best video game animals.

I also like the Bond/Bourne idea, as at one point The Outsider was rumoured to be turning into a Bourne title for EA. Bond's more fun though.

Frontier don't have massive experience / shown much interested in games with cinematics. On that front, the ideas above don't work?

Edit: what I mean is a film licence that translates well to game mechanics without the need lots of cutscenes.

I think the real point is that the movie is so internationally known that no one can currently pin it down.. Still we will probably end up buying it anyway.. Its all in the execution.

Dirty Harry? That game would make my day..

IMO - James Bond.

They have the tech already from an earlier cancelled project (Outsider) and it would make sense to convert and release it.

*hush hush*

i am trying to push #jurassicworld as new movie out in 2018. and hasbro lost license to mattel, maybe place for other new partners, too. also it is a park and building and animals ^^

Hmm, I wonder if DBOBE would look good in a grey robe and pointy hat?

Lord of the Rings would be great, but I think WB have the game rights.

Well there's two of them so it can be classed as a franchise. Trainspotting.

The object of the the game is to identify the trains as they pass by the platform and write them into your notebook.

The Expanse? Damn, is a series not a movie :(

Ghost in the shell? Dune (a reboot is on the way if i'm not wrong)? Stargate (another one with a reboot on the way if i'm not wrong)?

I'm going for Planet Jurassic park zoo coaster.

Space travel to get there.
Dino hunting when you get there.
Park/zoo management game to set it up.
Search endlessly for Dino DNA :D

Perfect match!

They've already released so many creature-based games in the past, something like a Jurassic Park franchise would be revisiting old ground. It's the safest bet from the perspective of their prior experience, but I wonder if they will just end up eating into their own management sim market a bit.

Somethiing like Bourne or Bond makes sense. They have the engine technology, and it's a genre that they've obviously wanted to work on in the past. Human interaction hasn't been a strong suit of FDEV's games, but they did too much work on The Outsider to just let it rot.
