General / Off-Topic New movie based FD game in development... guess the franchise!

OMG, it COULD BE BLADE RUNNER!

Repped for saying what I said pages ago.

Game of Hunger Games.

Actually, I like this idea as well.

If Frontier are getting paid lots of £££ for creating a tie-in game... they're going to do what every other game developer has ever done, and make a mediocre game to get the cash, and say in their next advertising for Elite and/or Planet Coaster - 'From the creators of "The Predator (2018 release)"'.....

You have zero clue how it works I see.
Let me help you:
FD lease the right to use another company's intellectual property, not the reverse.
Profit is only made if the game sells.
A percentage of the profit goes to the original rights holders.

I think we can all agree that FD are as far from "every other game dev" as they can possibly be.
They have never stuck me as in for the fast cash at all.
If anything, they pay far too much attention to the crying and whining on this board and compromise the game.

Cynicism is only cool when you know of which you speak.

Predator bombed.

I would be v happy with this.... and alien, hell yeah! but honestly (and this is not a slur on FD) but do FD really have the money to buy rights to these?

IF FD were to stay scifi, which as I said I doubt, I would guess the suggestion someone else made of Firefly / Serenity is probably more likely

I am thinking a rated Mature game with SF and horror elements.
Enough with the coasters, let's get the stuffing scared out of us.

Blade Runner, Alien even Dune could be in the running.

Realistically I would say its probably Jurassic Park ... That seems to fit best with what Frontier currently do / are doing. Although personally I wouldn't want them to do 'another' management game myself. They need to diversify in the end.

Something that used The Outsider tech would be nice, so Bourne or Blade Runner.

Its not StarTrek as they would have said TV show, and it will never be Star Wars, or anything Disney owned.

As stated its going to be something that fits in with Frontiers MO in the end. It must therefore be this .....

Casablanca - A VR wave and click adventure

You play a barman at Rick's Cafe. This means you get to see Humphrey Bogart, and Ingrid Bergman, and you can stop tending now and again to listen to Sam vamp on the piano.

There are 3 or 4 acts within the game where the object of each act is to smuggle a refugee out of the country, the last being that you have to obtain a fake passport for Lazlo.

The game contains all the iconic scenes; Rick tells Sam to play the song, the parting of the ways at the airfield, and the amazing scene where the extras belt out "La Marseillaise" loud enough to drown out the German soldiers. The extras showed real defiance when they were singing because they were real refugees from that oppressive regime.

I think they should turn all this initial buzz into a marketing opportunity.

People can submit what they think it might be then when it is announced those who guessed correctly get some *reward*

Its quite a neat marketing strategy so it probably wont happen.

Being able to fly to "planet coaster" and drop of tourist would be a pretty cool feature.

There doesn't seem to be a clear marketing strategy, and relies too much own who is making the game rather that targeting the wider game playing market and beyond.

Mobile games are widely consumed so growing that side of the business would benefit.

They could go far a Nick Park claymation look and do "The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists!". After all there is a connection between Gideon Defoe and Frontier. He did one of the official Elite novels, "Docking is Difficult"

Lost in Space (game development)?

Lost in Space is not a worldwide beloved movie franchise, so it can’t be it.

That said though, a modern Lost in Space video game could actually be a whole lot of fun! Make it a simulator / survival / exploration game, with good flight mechanics and simulation and detail to the Jupiter II and it’s rover and such. That’s actually a really cool idea for a game….

Some things are sacred and should never be resurrected!
