Midnight are matte black, void are shiny with a blue steel hue, at least that's how it looks in the store.
It's an iridescent black, like oil. The midnights are mat black.
I find the void ones like a dark blue / purple stygian fade. The SRV is particularly purple from some angles
For those who think some of the paintjobs are a bit lacking, this is a funny read.

Racing Paint is still available though too, the one paint that needed to be removed.
I'm not familiar with Racing Paint, what's wrong with it?
Imagine lines, text and colour juxtaposed in such a way that it makes your eyes catch on fire.

That's inflation for you. Just like two shipkits costing 16k ARGHS each, giving you a grand total of 9 parts to play with. Meanwhile you can still buy the older 12 part kits for 14k each and the 16 part kits for 16k. Yet I'm still more tolerant towards those vanity items (and even bought both kits !) than towards the early access FOMO. Even the prebuilt ships are fine, just get rid of the bloody early access crap. Stellar prebuilt for those who want, availability of the standard version for credits on day 1, not 3 months later. Well, and the standard for ARGHS for those still holding on to Horizons 4.0.

Well the Tactical Crimson isn’t currently available for any other ship and using the game store interface doesn’t even show up on ships you already own it for.So... Tactical and Vibrant paintjobs for Python mk2 for 6000 Arx
For other ships these paintjobs are for 1600 arx.
Pretty scandalous.
Tactical Crimson is one of the colours I was thinking of eventually getting for nearly all my ships, I even bought Tactical packs for it prior to Arx, before the changes to price and availability, so this would have successfully tempted me to buy but the price is too high for what it is and the current availability policy would also discourage me, a shame as I would have probably have spent more on 4 or 5 ships if it were available and 2000 a ship.

Yup, 6000 Arx is a total impudence for a simple, single coloured paintjob !! 
And btw those tactical and vibrant paintjobs are some of the oldest ones available...
So I guess it was a "wise" decision from FD to "simplify" the store and so prevent possible customers from buying overpriced stuff... well done...

TBH - the ARXing price gouging has spoiled this game for me. I think FDEV are treating the players abominably, reduced paint job range, repaint pricing, ships-for-ARX, delayed ship access - the whole thing stinks. I wonder what DBOBE would think if he were still "engaged" with his baby.
It looks great but it’s a terrible ship for anything other than combat. The T8 already seems more popular. People want ships they can use for more than one role.
