New Planet Tech is KILLER of Exploration (all terrain is tiling/repeating/not procedural/random)

'completely agree about the bally POIs, and that's a fascinating observation about their spawn trigger. 'only trouble i suppose is that you're limiting your return with universal carto when you hand all that data in... but then i'm guessing you're not too concerned about the credits... ;)
but so then you're just "guestimating" where to find geos and bios? on the "prestige" front, you could be missing a whole lot of "first discoveries" along the way.
for my part i'm just choosing to ignore them on my way out to colonia, c107ly/jump in my orca, looking forward to gaining a proper astrobio ranking upon arrival! :D
I'm just hopping along in my trusty ASP with 50ly and enjoy some of the views. Money never was a trigger in the game for me, I play mainly for relaxing and leaving real life behind for a few hours - the money grind in RL is bad enough :)
When they fix the poi distribution I think I will start a journey I was planning for a while - a complete circumnavigation of the galaxy, that should yield enough money and fame ;)

Ha that's funny, I immediately knew where that was when I saw the photos. I'll never forget seeing those orange, blue and green mountains. Amazing.
It’s something special, isn’t it :) I enjoyed swimming in the warm river with the lava flow in the background and the snow covered mountain peaks all around. Iceland is somewhere I went back to many times, but I haven’t been there for a while. I think there might have to be an expedition to the Fimmvorðuals when we can travel again :)

'funny, i too have been mulling a circumnavigation... 'wonder how many other ED:O explorers have interest in the like?
perhaps there's a first ED:O expedition in the offing here...?
If one wants to organize one, I'm all for it ;)
The only condition on my end: No fleet carriers in the crowd, to me this spoils it a bit. I love finding pathes through areas with a low suncount, want my paint job at 0% and my hull having taken a good punch when I come back :)

👍 Even Lucifer in Sirius was a great view. There I learned the hard way, that a torch and SRV with lights is a good idea :)

Tonight I'm jumping a bit further out of the bubble in direction of SagA and have a look what some bookmarks of mine now look like.
I try to avoid surface scanning at the moment as this seems to be the trigger to spawn POIs and I would rather not find multiple wrecks and other things on each and every planetoid ;)
Though that would be one thing I would like to know: are there actually spawning wreck and building POIs out there regularly?

Also: screenshots or it didn't happen. :D

I didn't check on Lucifer - I stopped scanning planets to not have to see the markers. I jumped out about 2K light years from the bubble and yes, nearly every moon I checked was spawning 3-4 POIs of different types.

Will add a screenshot later, atm I enjoy the first day with acceptable weather :D

POIs in the black will have to change. That's wrong.

And you mean, like, outside? Weird thought... ;)

Didn't we have the exact same thing in Horizons before they fixed it? I'm feeling like someone will start singing Let's do the time warp again.
Yes that was the same symptom we had with Horizons in the very beginning and at least back then was a simple fix in gradually fading out the possibility to appear or sth.

So we really are back where we started when Horizon released. I mean.. what else did I expect, right? :D

I'm beginning to think this isn't just a POI issue. I think the planet tech, POI, and organic distribution are all broken in an interrelated way. While just out sightseeing, I've literally landed on top of those grassy bits. This is without a surface scan or any attempt to locate anything. I just picked a body and went to it. What should the odds of that happening be? The first time I thought it was just lucky RNG. The second... ...not so much.

They are really a bit abundant. I like to be able to find the plants or geysers just by flying above the surface and try to spot them without scanning beforehand, but these are a bit too often occuring IMHO

And this is just for being in disagreement. Incredible. This level of attack for debating your point of view. I will be here after the mods notice this was a forum discussion, as it should be. I will be here to tell you.
I think that, if you are not a troll (near impossible), you have some serious eye problem, being unable to see the repeating patterns in Wyrd. And that's it...
