Horizons New player - how long before I can land on a planet with a SRV?

Hi!

I want to try Elite Dangerous and planetary landings are a big draw for me so I really want to try it before I buy the game.

So i'm wondering is it possible to achieve a planetary landing within the 2 hour refund period of Steam?

If you buy Horizons, you can just go down to atmosphereless planets right away with a starter ship. You'll need enough money for a planetary vehicle hangar and SRV if you want to leave your ship.

If you buy the Horizons and start a new Commander, you can actually choose the START at the surface base with a Sidewinder already equipped with the landing suite and small SRV hangar.

But let me just say - if you are planning to find out if you like this game in just two hours so you can return it, don't even bother. Go and buy something else.

as above ... two hours to get an idea of the game .... not possible.

what i do, when a friend is interested, i ask him to watch uncutted gameplay videos on youtube. some like it and buy the game, some dislike it and don't buy it. it isn't the perfect test, but the best i know. elite dangerous needs a lot of patience ;-)

^^And there are a couple of streamers, too I guess. I know Ed Lewis does it from time to time "Educating Ed".

Thank you for the replies. I know it's not enough but I just want to see how good it works with Oculus, like if you get a good sense of scale on the planets, if you get sick from the buggy, etc.

I have a mate who plays with the Oculus with elite and he LOVES it. He is way addicted to it and has to fight off the urge to drive home at lunch just to play....
So much better and bigger than any VR game out there at the moment... 400 billion stars....
