That’s unlikely; people flying the Corvette probably haven't faced a truly serious threat. If an Interceptor—or a large number of enemies—focuses on you, the Corvette is a guaranteed loss. As it stands, the Cutter is the only large ship capable of holding its own in combat.

Like I said, people who fly Corvettes haven't faced truly tough conditions. A Cutter can only lose to a Corvette if the Cutter's commander actually wants it to happen. The Cutter has high speed, meaning you can always control the engagement range.

Back before the wave of new ships, we in the Empire had no trouble choosing a vessel.
Hauling cargo? Cutter.
Laser mining? Cutter.
Combat? Cutter.
AX? Cutter.

He also rescued residents using the cutter, as it could easily evade Gleph missiles.
