New Ships When?

I want new weapons. I feel like every time I want to change it up and run something other than a beam and multicannon build I'm just making it harder on myself. The other choices either dont have enough ammo, or arent available in every size, or dont have the right engineering effects. CQC has plasma repeaters and rapid cannons- why not put those in the game? Why not a huge frag cannon? Why not a huge flechette cannon? Why does the gauss cannon do damage? Why cant we engineer the broker weapons to be on-par with the standard weapons? There are so many other types of rounds that would be cool to see in game- lightning types? Flash bangs?
What about engineering effects? Maybe a way for a round to be overcharged by your shields as they pass through, so you weaken your shields for shots that do more damage, which you can balance by going all-recharge on your shield generator.
I mean, I dont really know. I think that there must be some stuff that could be done to mix things up. Finding the meta should be way more complicated than it is.

I would love to see a small combat ship strapped with all small hardpoints. 5 or 6 small hardpoints would put it on equal terms with the other small combat ships and open up loadouts that are completely unique. The possibilities that ship would allow with Cytos/Enforcers . . . drool

While I agree that we really don't need many more ships, there are certainly some niches that would be nice to realized.
So you're thinking in terms of a patrol gunboat? Low strength, low speed and defence, and basically lined with machine guns....I could get down with that...

Ah, well, if we are talking about things missing in lines, then a medium Saud Kruger might be nice as well.

Hardpoints on the Clipper are fine with gimballs or turrets. If you want to run fixed, you can put lasers on the left and MCs on the right or similar.

If you want 4 PAs or PA rails... then yeah, that's not great.
Agree on Saud medium so that makes two more ships really.

I run my Clipper with a mix of turrets and gimballs (leftover engineered weapons so a bit mix and match unfortunately) and it's pretty awkward still.

I should probably just get rid of the lot and make it an explorer build instead.

Sinceramente espero un nuevo carguero que sienta que valga la pena, el tipo 9 me pareció un barco que sacrificaba mucha maniobrabilidad para llevar solo un máximo de 790 como mínimo por darme un error tan fuerte que lleva 2000 D;

Moray, Imperial Explorer, and Panther. I think we might possibly eventually get the Panther, but I would actually prefer an Imperial Explorer.

Always thought that with the Boa and the Panther Clipper being such large ships (they're both much larger than an Anaconda) that they should be the first true multicrew vessels, as in that they can't be flown by just a single pilot, requiring up to a maximum crew of four players. That would require new gameplay mechanics, but since multicrew hasn't been touched since its initial release we're way overdue for updates to it.

I thought we got a new ship this year, the FC.

Whole update about it...... would have thought there was plenty of content (mining) to keep going until odyssey!

Actually I am hoping we get a new use for the Dropship (dropping things like tanks), and an Imperial ship to counter.
I do think we have space covered, although I have no evidence to back this up, is there any wholes in the lineup, or too big a jump?
Asp to Python is a bit of a grind, especially if you do not buy a Type-7. Only one I cna think of.

Failing that Panther clipper would make sense for Triple Elite Fleet Carrier owners, something to park next to the FC I presume, fighrt bay, and Panther escort to allow FCs to be attackable. I do think a new ship in itself is a lot of work for very little content. If it covers a hole in the lineup, well ok, if it brings in new gameplay, even better and probably where we should aim now.

Fleet carrier isn't a ship. You can't do 90% of what other ships can. Why do you think so many of them are abandoned?

Hopefully they are abandoned and I can take the filter off my contacts tab soon! I do not understand why they are still around, if abandoned. Why not decomission if you are not using? I suspect a lot of commanders with money to burn purchased one, having no idea what they would do with it, other than store everything there. Given upkeep is 50% of powerplay weekly income, I can see why most players rich enough are not decomissioning actually. Perhaps we should have kept with the more expensive upkeep. Those that had a purpose and wanted to use the content would have found a way, the rich with no plan would not be cluttering up the system map.

Mind you I think they would have worked better a squadron asset.

Rumour is that all current ships are being 'retired' apart from the Cobra III... (and engineering is to go along with anything other than D rated modules)
Far too much choice in the game as it stands so remember, you heard the rumour first right here :ROFLMAO:

Can those lack luster repeats be called a different ship...its cheesy at best.

We need new ships ASAP....starting with the panther clipper! A srv with at least 4 canister spots, 2 is ridiculous. It's like going camping with a man purse instead of a back pack..Ill prepared!

As for interiors...we do not need to design what's behind the panels to the T. It's all fantasy anyhow.
I can pick out so many engineering flaws to make it all irrelevant? All we need is it corridors and a few rooms. And the only time you can be out of your chair while ship is in motion is super cruise.

Can we get some programming gurus to meet the challenges!?!

We don't need the Panther Clipper... We have FC's (well, all of the important players have! :devilish:) for massive cargo carrying.
A bigger capacity SRV would be very nice...
