News New 'Thargoid Incursion' State

Not quite what you asked, but if you check out the Wrecked Megaship scenarios you may see what can happen. (Delphi is a good place to try them out as it has lots of wrecks!). (Note: Thargoids don't turn up to 100% of scenarios.)

I know about the mega ships, bit Gnosis was different, as it was a dockable mega ship.

And attacks on stations never happened real time so far AFAIK.
 
And there are hardly any AX, OR Guardian gimballed weapons (is the AX Shock Cannon any good?). And not any AX or Guardian weapons of level 4 (huge slots). So FDev is making people force a play style in a (semi) forced game mechanic.

I'm a returning noob to this game. So please excuse me for any unknowing remarks.

Shock Cannon is not an AX weapon. It's just a kinetic semi-automatic cannon with theoretically good stats. Only theoretically, because due to massive jitter and overheating it is actually one of the worst (if not the worst) weapons in game. It also cannot be engineered and has tiny amount of ammo. It does work on Scouts, but then does any weapon, AX or not.

Speaking of Scouts - I use this FDL: https://s.orbis.zone/mtn
Fun to fly, super-easy to use and extremely effective against Scouts. You can clear Threat 6 NHSS (12 Scouts), mop up the acid with limpet if necessary, and go clear another Threat 6 NHSS. The only skill required is ability to point it at the nearest Scout and then follow it and shoot until it dies.
Use with pips in 3-0-3. Scouts are slow, so boost isn't needed (and FDL has more than enough speed and maneuverability at 0 pips). Remember to turn away when Scout is about to blow, otherwise you risk getting into acid cloud (and waste a limpet mopping it up afterwards)

Speaking of gimballed AX weapons - no one at FD ever answered why we can't have gimballed AX multicannons or Guardian weapons. Of course, we all know the answer ("they supposed to be a challenge!"), but that does not make our life easier. Thankfully they made Scouts vulnerable to conventional guns, otherwise I would be completely locked out from anti-Thargoid combat.
Who knows, maybe they'll introduce some gimbaled Guardian\AX guns in 3.3.

We have to test it, but as described, it is an unwinnable scenario. No way to push them back, no way to hit them in the rear to divert forces, just keep defending yourself again and again and again until you are overwhelmed. What's the point?
 
This just sounds like what we've already got, plus a generic conflict zone and some bgs state.This "invasion" started 3 years ago now. All I can do is shoot at some their fighter aircraft, feed them meta alloys or have them remind me they hate the guardians.
 
I hope this time at least the system gives the info on how many (and types) are needed to kill or some progress, cause that lack of info is an essential issue at the moment.

Fog of war - we have no knowledge at all about where the Thargoids are even coming from, let alone their disposition, logistics, and reinforcement capabilities.
 
Hmmm, so you’re going to further FORCE pointless content on us.
Can you at least do it using the dag gone mission boards and to unlock guardian tech vs meaningless pew pew for BGS or collecting junk for unlocks?
 
Please have them pull you out of supercruise or have a presence outside of USS before (and while) they also attack stations. I shouldn't be able to freely fly around a system that's under attack by aliens.

Joking aside, I am cautiously optimistic about the feature.

If there are than the systems can burn, nothing worse than a full on invasion messing up the wedding.

If I see those msg im out.
 
But I can agree that current level of Thargoid invasion is so low that huge number of players are even not aware of there is one.

This ten thousand times, it really needs stepping up to not just be another news article 99% of commanders scroll by and ignore (if the devs want it to have an impact).

Please make it so that Thargoid forces can pull you out of supercruise in an Incursion system.

This a few thousand times as well.

Even better, please let us pull them out of super-cruise. Then, and only then, we might actually have a chance of beating them. Until then, they have the "high ground" advantage and there is just no way for us to actually beat them.
 
We ll see how it goes but, besides PVP in open versus other players, how to fight FOR the thargoids ? To be honest, from a BGS perspective, this is quite interesting, at least its effect.

It is a powerful tool to damaged your ennemy stations



Well then, lets make thargoid combat open only.
 
No theirs enough issues with balance as is without separating the game with open and solo just leave the way it is.

Anyone remembers how people feared Thargoids will be relabelled CZs? Now that we will have relabelled CZs, people are actually happy. This shows, how (unfortunately) badly designed 2.4 was/ is. However I think, I am looking forward to this change.

Thargoids that in some form impact on the BGS vs the current way they dont?

Its definitely a case of choosing the lesser of two weevils for me.

Sounds very good so far, especialy the BGS part of this.

One wish that, imo, is essential to make the thargoid a real thread:

Make them interdict player. Remember when you introduced the thargoids with this nice interdiction cutscene? Players where really shocked because this was a real threat now. So please let this happens so everyone who is going into a system that is in incursion state know that there is a real danger!
