News New 'Thargoid Incursion' State

Would very much like to know what this will be dependent upon.

Population?
”Happyness”
Government type.
Star Type?
Presence of Ammonia Life in System?
Security?
Economy type?
CMDR Traffic?
Sales of UA/TPs?
Presence of Guardian Tech Broker?

neither. obesity averages. thargoids like'm fat.

Are there any plans to revise Thargoid (combat) content to allow participation beyond the currently required loadouts (full hull tanks, AX and guardian weapons)? It's not like I'd not want to participate, but I've got 3 fully engineered ships yet the loadouts that I prefer simply cannot realisitically do it (bi-weave shields, armed lasers and plasma accelerators, no SCB spam). :(

Just because you can't hurt Thargoid ships other than some of the scouts doesn't prevent you from participaiting after all while they are destroying you or me they aren't able to focus quite so much fire on those who can hurt them.

They also serve who act as spaced armour.

Are we finally going to see Planetary Bases attacked as well as orbitals at some point? And will thargoids be able to finally damage medium sized platform type orbitals?

Top class.
My hope is that the kill count to negate the incursion is not over the top and achievable.

Hows about having a domino effect occur.
Random system is targeted. If not sufficiently defended, other neighbouring systems are targeted. ??

That should soon finish off the bubble as a location for humanity.

The Incursion state lasts (currently) indefinitely until players remove it!! [woah]

...is this the end of the bubble as we know it?

Ok, So Fdev, these are welcome changes for the most part. As in everything the devil is in the details and unfortunately no detail was provided.

1) Successful defense numbers depend on the system, pop, etc...ok, how specifically and will we know how many scouts and interceptors of various types must be killed to defend a system when if comes under threat? Will these be realistically achievable?
2) Repairs: Are station repairs going to be reasonably achievable or are they going to remain a near impossible task to accomplish and remain damaged for months on end (like now)
3) Thargoid CZs are something we have wanted for a long time, so thank you for this. The suggestions about placing them near stations (damaged or undamaged), mega ships and other targets is a great one, please do this. Also, will the CZs include both scouts and interceptors? One or the other? Both at the same time?
4) Lastly, since the "invasion" will have escalated in 3.3, it is time the experimental status of AX weapons (both human and guardian) be lifted. They should also be engineerable to a) remove the handicap they have in damage against human ships B) increase ammo capacity.

Number 4...Yeeeeahhh

It's only a matter of time before someone will claim that it's okay to combat log if a Thargoid forces their playstyle on you.

From the perspective of the one doing it combat logging is almost always acceptable.

A way to make this ineffective is to record the threat state that was logged from and restore it when they log back in, substituting NPCs for other players involved.

I need to know:
How do we fix the stations?
Will we be able to do rescue stuff at the stations?
Can we repair any damaged megaships?
If we can do rescue stuff, will it effect any outcome in the system?

It would be nice if rescue missions/recovered pods affected the outcomes.

From the eagerness of Thargoids to collect escape pods I suspect you could disrupt an attack by dropping cutter loads of them at the right time.

So I've seen a few posts in here saying that making Thargoid combat not optional is not right. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe this game was developed to be a sort of "realistic future" type game. That being said, realistically if someone or some thing started attacking something would you say "I opt out cause I dont have something to defend myself with," or would you get what ya needed to defend yourself? While I get that this is a video game, but I refer back to the fact that it's supposed to be a "realistic future." Also there will be the aforementioned "avoid that system" option even if there isn't a noncombatant option in a system under siege.

Interesting stuff, but I do worry a bit that player factions that happen by random chance to fall victim to an incursion are basically then screwed, as, presumably, happiness levels then plummet and they're basically going to suffer the negative effect of conflict for an indefinite period of time.

Realistically if you look at the options people actually adopted during the last world wars the answer to your question is yes.
People will :-
Fight
Appease
Run
Stand and die without fighting

We are a complicated bunch with some who will react instinctively and others who will act on personal, moral or religious convictions yet others will just do what someone they see in authority tells them.

Me I am looking for a self sustaining ship with the capability of terraforming a planet with a large supply of genetic material to back it up and ideally enough range to reach another galaxy with in the lifespan of its cryosupport capabilities.

The only thing I don't like about this is that if players don't interfear the system will never be saved? So npcs will never fight them?

I would like to see some AX NPCs finally.

While that very well could happen I do believe that there are CMDRs out there, such as myself, that will go and fight the threat in those systems. I do believe in a good portion of the community would come to the aid of fellow players.

Great step in the right direction.

I would like to see some actual threat though. at the moment its always a choice to go to a cz etc
It would be really nice to have a system under attack having thargoids running all over the system attacking everyone, kind of like what anarchy should have been. I know there is no lore about fsd interdiction with thargoids but they have been gathering ship data and stuff for years i'm sure they could have figured this out by now.
