Horizons newbie question on exploring

hi everyone, newbie question on exploring. when you are far out, where do you leave your ship when you sighn out of the game. due to im thinking of taking a anacondor with me.

I don't mind being near objects, but I try to stay out of their orbital path just in case....and I NEVER EVER log out on a planet....been screwed too many times with that bug. Just sitting in a system somewhere.

I usually find some nice planet with vistas, possibly close to big O,B or A star, take some pictures and log off. Then when I'm back is usually night, so I make more awesome pictures and start thinking of a route forward.

Like Bartizan said, there is a slight chance of problems when you are logging back in while on the surface. If you have slower connection, it can happen that while the terrain is recalculating (as you know it's all procedurally generated, so it stays the same, once you've discovered it) and textures are loading, you can call through the surface. ( yea :/ )
However it's a really rare bug. I only know of less than a dozen cases, which, considering a 1M+ playerbase is a pretty small chance. Never happened to me, plus there is an easy workaround:
Don't try to force your way back up (duh), instead log off and instead of Horizons, run the 1.6 (season 1) version. In that you aren't allowed on the planets, so you will actually log in in the orbit of the planet you've been on. Then you can switch back to Horizons. ;)

I'll usually log off somewhere deep in space, usually lined up with my next target. Sometimes, though, I'll land, hop into my buggy for a bit of off-roading and send my ship skyward. I can then log off on the planet in my buggy with no worries for logging back on. I don't sit in my ship on the planet anymore since I've often had NPC's oddly spawn nearby, even when 1000+ ly out of the bubble. Never happens in my moonbuggy, though.

I always log off on planets if I'm out in the deep. I've never experienced any difficulties.

In the Bubble I always log off from a landfall base, platform or station...............
