I get my moneys worth of I get what I was promised. You could also leave your house tomorrow and be hit by a bus and no longer be able to play Elite. If you bought the game and get to play it for a few years or more (with no monthly subscription ) before the game is shut down, then I would say you got your moneys worth.
Look, I know what you are saying and I can understand your viewpoint.
But as it is, I draw a very strict line between what I purchase and what I lease. Especially the things where I am involved in emotionally, I always purchase, because I can't stand other people to be able to control the things I pay them money for.
This may sound strange to some of you (especially the younger ones) but this is how I tick. To me this isn't limited to games. I spend money for something, I want to own it. Sometimes it is unavoidable not to, but I take care that this happens as little as possible.
But I can play them again. There are plenty of single player games that cost the same or more then Elite that are over after 40-50 hours.
And often I do.
In fact I consider every game that I do not want to play again not necessarily a mispurchase, but not a very good one.
