Noob question. Asp Explorer and a second person

Hi guys. just started playing the PS4 version of ED and really liking it. I got an Asp Explorer yesterday that is two seats. I checked out the crew lounge on a planet and saw people to hire but according to the menu they are only for Fighter Bay additions (and that isn't this ship). So, what is the second seat for? Do/can I hire some one? if so what for? I also noticed you can get a second planet buggy to bring with you to a planet. why? or can you hire someone to work the second buggy with you to collect minerals as I'm collecting for Engineering tasks.

Love the game, just need some clarification on this point. Thanks guys

The second seat is really just part of the ship model. You might be able to get another (real) player in it with Holo Me (or Telepresence or whatever it's called).

The 'two SRVs' thing is simple - it's a spare! When you're out in the black you won't be able to replace your SRV (no stations) so having a spare along can be useful for those occasions when you jump over what you thought was a ditch and turns out to be a 5 mile deep canyon...!

That 5-mile drop scenario happens more often than I'd like to admit. As Grey says, when you're waaaay out in the black exploring nebulae, black holes, surfaces with wicked canyons (I'm looking at you, EliteRacers) you're going to run into a scenario when you will very likely lose a SRV at some point. Having an additional in your back pocket helps immensely. You never know when you're going to need a FSD boost, so being able to gather the materials for it is important.

I suppose we can't blame the Mistress for this one.

Although it's probably still TJ's fault. Somehow.

Thanks for the help. I haven't been out to the "deep black" yet, just done some mineral hunting on 'local planets'. That makes more sense now. Thanks for the help guys.
