Noob question here...how do i get to Boepp UE-Q e5-2104 system

Thanks again everyone that's helped me along the way, great advice, and a really welcoming community O7.

Have had the best time lately, doing trade runs, getting a new Type 7 Cargo ship, now running to get an Anaconda to go out into deep space and explore, maybe get my name logged to a few undiscovered stars.

Absolutely loving this game, got some custom soundtracks working too, Star Trek collections, epic.

Looking forward to seeing more along the way.

Awesome game, and i've yet to plug in my VR, can't wait to try that as well!

Welcome to the game.

Don't worry even after years of play you can still find things you didn't know about all sorts of game mechanics.

The Anaconda is the ship that can be made to do the longest single jumps but for almost everywhere you can do perfectly well in any of the top 6 ships for jump range, the Anaconda does have issues turning in tight spaces like the moon system of a gas giant.

You can get undiscovered stuff surprisingly close to where you started just head in a direction that doesn't lead to anything historic or scenic or interesting and that will improve your chances.

Thanks everyone, sounds like i need to do a bit more research on exploration ships then, i also don't want something that's not very manoeuvrable...so maybe the Aneconda isn't the way to go...Currently have about 6mil so need to get some more credits in with some trade runs :)

This brings us back to Meta Alloys :) The current CG is paying 1.5M per ton, so 4T would double your funds :) You could easily build a ship for 6M with more cargo capacity than that, and out to the pleiades & back would be a nice trying for a first explore :)

Not sure if you've come across https://coriolis.io/ - it's great for checking how builds work - this is a (non-engineered DBX) that you can't quite get https://s.orbis.zone/j6wu, or a Dolphin that you could https://s.orbis.zone/j6ww (both are a bit squishy, so take care landing).

And ofc don't build either if you haven't time to get out there and back by Wednesday night, as the CG will finish then and prices will drop down to 200k.

Don't get too set on a 'conda for exploring - sure streamers push them, but you'll have more fun in a DBX, Krait Phantom, Dolphin or even <shudder> AspX. Any of those will turn better in supercruise and land easier than the flob-monster :)
Haha, the Eye is in the beauty of Beholder, I'd put that list like this: but you'll have more fun in a AspX, Krait Phantom, Dolphin or even <shudder> DBX. :D

I think you made a mistake there, you put <shudder> DBX in the same sentence as Krait Phantom, and we all know that's plain wrong!

All ships have pros and cons :) I'd say for exploration:

  • 'conda - doesn't turn fast in SC, and more difficult to find a landing spot, but you can pack everything, and longest jumps (just)
  • AspX - engine sound is an acquired taste, great big fuel scoop
  • DBX - fuel scooping is slow, but is the best ship, so whatever ;)
  • Phantom ... just a bit ... beige - it's ok I guess 🤷‍♀️
  • Dolphin - boost sound is an acquired taste, and the jump range is a bit meh, but the ability to jump while scooping

The beige rubs off nicely if you never bother to repair the paintwork ;)
The phantom is a nice explorer, I had a wander out near Beagle in one for quite a while. I do find that with the new exobiology requiring more frequent landing then having a smaller ship was an advantage as you can park even easier - even in the really rough stuff - so I switched to a Dolphin. The phantom wasn't quite so easy to land, and also less forgiving when I forgot to check the local gravity

Thanks everyone, still lots to think about then...the ideal explorer ship for me would be:

  • decent range so I can cover good distances without it taking forever to get places
  • agile, so it's not too hard to fly about, land, generally 'explore' :)
  • enough component options to make any recommended upgrades for exploring
  • good cockpit view without too much obstruction from the views :)
I know everyone has their preferences, but any that kind of fit into those criteria would be great!

Dont do that. It'd be about 1000 times waiting for the server to give you a ticket to the next station and there will be times it will hiccup. Rather get your bearings in bubble. Earn some cash. Get better equipment. Run missions.

Nothing wrong with the DBX! But I first went to Beagle Point in a Dolphin just for the hell of it :D

I'd just recommend the DBX, it's got all the module capacity you need for a long exploration trip and it's the cheapest of all the bespoke exploration ships. It's agile in Supercruise, runs cool and handles well in normal space. The other thing I like about it is that it's pretty easy to land in rough terrain - some of the larger vessels can be tricky.

Here's a link to a DBX that's something like mine: https://s.orbis.zone/j7e4

OK so there's a lot of engineering there and a Guardian FSD booster but you can play around with the engineering and gear and you'll see you can get a decent jump range for only some mild engineering. You can also increase the range a bit more by sacrificing on the Thrusters and Power distributor... but I like fast ships!

Careful of the ASPx - paint is as thin as a Nissan

None of them has it all. The Dolphin ticks all the boxes except for the view. Asp and DBX have both the range and the view, but fewer (and less well balanced) internal slots. Phantom (and Mk.II) again have a partly obstructed view and a larger landing footprint.

There's no overall "best" exploration ship (which is good, gives a range of choices), but the Phantom is a fine ship. One of the few that combines jumprange with speed in normal space. Asp Explorer has the best cockpit view, and can mount a big fuelscoop, but has limited internal slots, and I think the Phantom's tripod landing gear makes it easier to land in rough terrain.

After a lot of research, and helpful tips from the forum, i've made my decision....

I'm going to make my exploration ship the ...

KRAIT PHANTOM

Can't wait to get out there...hope to bump into you in the verse, O7 (i have enough credits now to buy, just making sure i have enough for the upgrades too :) )

A fine choice, don't bother repairing the paint either, a nice weathered look is essential for an exploration ship;
