Noob question here...how do i get to Boepp UE-Q e5-2104 system

Thanks everyone, sounds like i need to do a bit more research on exploration ships then, i also don't want something that's not very manoeuvrable...so maybe the Aneconda isn't the way to go...Currently have about 6mil so need to get some more credits in with some trade runs :)
It's all about personal choice.....that's for EVERYTHING you want to do in the game.
My personal choice for Exploration is the 'Conda. Yes it turns like a canal barge, but even though I'v never completely engineered it to it's maximum (yet!), it's 59/60 LY jump range (without using jumponium mats) is adequate for my exploration needs.......currently started my return trip from the Xibalba Sector.......granted, still need my Carrier to jump the 'void' regions between Spiral Arms.

Don't chase other player's gamestyle, unless you want to. The fun in ED is to be your own boss, no matter how other's may think & say 'you're doing it wrong mate!'

... and if you're looking for an FSD then I'd find a Guardian Tech Broker as they do pre-engineered ones that fit the Phantom. You will need to do a bit of material gathering, but less than if you engineer it yourself (plus it is better than any you can make yourself).
Just to avoid confusion, the pre-engineered FSD comes from a human tech broker (costs a lot of materials, but you don't need an engineer for it). The guardian tech broker will give you the FSD booster, which is a nice range increase, but I found to be a bit painful to unlock.

So, I bought the Krait Phantom, and well....it didn't really feel what I wanted when flying, hard to explain, the engine sounded a bit different than expected...so having done more research, and having sold the Phantom (and first all the parts - thanks for those tips too!),

I'm off to check out what i'm hoping will be my exploration ship... the ASP Explorer...I even have mapped out a potential build taking on board what GunnerBill shared for a DBX... am hoping the build gives me good exploration options, ability to repair outside of ports etc and good range...hopefully i've not missed anything obvious off!

:D

The Krait sounded like it was underwater....kind of 'bubbly'...i'm hoping the AspX is more 'enginey' ...
Oh, it's engine-y ... as long as you dress like this .... :)

It's a reasonable build. You do have a lot of modules with G5 blueprints applied, do you have the unlocks and materials for all that? You can save a fair amount of time by switching some of those G5 lightweight A grade modules to lightly engineered D grade instead - at minimum definitely switch that E grade life support to D instead.

Also, it's more of an explorers' superstition than necessity, but since you have the room, always bring a small mining laser. Might save you if you can't land but need synthesis materials, plus you never know what life forms you might encounter that have interesting responses to directed energy.

Thanks for this, really helpful. I don't have any unlocks or materials for Guardian components. Also, in the ship outfitting, I don't seem to have any option to 'Engineer' things, i guess that's because I haven't fully unlocked Felicity Farseer? I guess I should really do some of that first?

Follow @Brother Sabathius advice here .. a nice 300Ly shakedown is a good way to get to know your ship.

You want to be looking under this section, should have some tasks for you

... might hold you up a while from exploring though ..

And looks like you should have gone after that meta Alloy last week when you were planning to :)

Thanks for reminding me, so do i just buy them or do i have to mine them out? Harvest suggests mining them?

Head down to the Pleiades to a Barnacle or Thargoid ground structure (there is one in Delphi) and harvest some MAs there for free.

Yes. Surface collecting, you'll only need a Detailed Surface Scanner to map planets and find barnacle sites to land at .. and an SRV buggy to collect them.

Okay, that clears some things up. Yes, the build you linked is fairly advanced. Different engineers specialize in different modules, and usually only one or two engineers has the ability to apply a G5 modification. The build you posted requires unlocking at least seven different engineers, one of whom is 22,000 LY away in Colonia - and you do have to visit them in person the first time! (After that you can pin a modification so you can use it from anywhere) Take a look at the engineer unlock tree to get an idea of who does what.

The AspX is a perfectly competent exploring ship without any engineering at all, so I recommend building one with stock parts and taking it for a spin to see what you think. While you're at it you can pick up the distance/exploration rank requirement to get the invitation from Farseer or Martuk, and the meta-alloy or relics needed to unlock them. You might use this example as a starting point - it mostly just uses the lightest appropriate stock parts in each slot, no engineering needed. You can save quite a bit of money if you drop to a 6B fuel scoop, incidentally - should still scoop fast enough that you'll usually refuel after a jump just by flying around the star to line up your next jump, but doesn't cost four times the rest of your bill of materials combined.

Great idea, and thanks for all that detail, I realise just how far off I am in my planning! Need to lower expectations a bit and start off somewhere, your idea sounds ideal.

Adjusting course to nearest stockest of AspX... :)

That looks pretty solid. The only thing I'd add is that if you are going away for a long time/distance it's usually good to take 2 AFMU's - basically all modules degrade over time and you need the spare AFMU to fix the other one!

So I'd probably swap out the repair limpet controller for another AFMU - in all the LY's I've done I've never needed to repair the hull.

You might also want to downgrade the shield generator to a D to save weight and give you more range. You only really need this for landing, in exploration mode mine is off to save heat/fuel when in space.

This may be an error on your part (lol) but you should go for either a D or A rated life support as the E is heavy and rubbish. I'd go D and make it lightweight. A gives you more time but if you find your self actually needing it and being 1000's ly from anywhere an extra few minutes won't make a difference and you can recharge O2 onboard anyway.

Here's a little rework I did on you build: https://s.orbis.zone/j7z9

I've also downgrade the sensors to D rated & light weight. You don't really need sensor range in exploration as this is just for finding other ships.

Lastly I upgraded the Thrusters to 5A Dirty Drag! Personally I like the extra speed if I'm traversing terrain from one site to another.

The end result is your ship is a lot faster, a bit more Life Support and even a small bit extra range.
