Noob question here...how do i get to Boepp UE-Q e5-2104 system

I have an entry in my codex i think it is, under Jameson Log, but its empty and doesnt show anything, i feel i missed the lore somehow?
Check your Inbox? ('2' menu). Probably under something like 'Discovered Logs'

I can't collect the other objects though, guess i needed something else to retrieve those.
Cargo canisters? You can scoop them using the SRV cargo scoop if you open that (not sure what the default key is). Not really worth much though and some is toxic and will rot your ship unless you have special cargo racks.
found one of the material traders but had nothing to trade, so assume I have to find those, as someone suggested doing missions and stuff?
Depends which type of trader you found - we know you have found data, so presumably it wasn't one of them. As I said further up, use inara's search to find a data trader (they are a pain to find using the in-game galaxy filter as it is very short range)

Edit: Most people who use Jameson will relog at the site (out to menu and back) then scan the data points repeatedly until they are full with data (you will see). Then head to a data trader and switch to what they want - nearest is Ray Gateway in Diaguandri - see https://inara.cz/nearest-stations/?ps1=HIP+12099&pi13=&pi14=0&pi15=0&pi16=&pi1=0&pi18=0&pi19=0&pi17=0&pa1[25]=1&ps2=&pi8=&pi9=0&pi3=&pi4=0&pi5=0&pi6=0&pi7=0&pi23=0

Be aware that cross-trading is less useful than down-trading, so I would still think about trying to get the other G5 data etc for your own sanity - those who grind Jameson etc don't tend to end up the happiest campers.

Thanks for all that, I'll see what my first data sets yield, the material trader i ended up at needed minerals and ores i think...so i'll do as you suggested and go to the tech type one for data i've got.

I was on the surface and about to take off when another ship arrived, i thought that's cool, it had blue lights, as i took off, it shot me repeatedly and i died...oh well!

Yeah, those commonly known grinding sites don't tend to work well in Open :)
I'll always play in Open, added danger and all :) , annoying though as I'd just seen those logs in the chat where you said they'd be, but they're gone now in my new ship so never got to read them. Thankfully my data is harvested is in my new ship, so thats a plus!

This is quite a steep learning curve, thanks for helping out :)

looks like i'm missing the key scanning component!

I'll get a wave scanner and see what happens....

May I suggest sticking a heat sink launcher in one of those empty utility slots Cmdr? They are quite useful especially in an exploration ship. If you're fuel scooping and get a little too close then you can pop one of those to save from some heat damage. Sometimes dropping in on binary stars can be a bit tricky too and also if you drop in on a neutron star or white dwarf you may get a little close for comfort and need to launch one or two. The white dwarfs are the nastier of the two even for veteran explorers.

About the learning curve, the two non sequence stars I just mentioned can help you travel farther quicker or allow you to reach a star system that is beyond your normal and juiced jump range. As OP is a new explorer though we'll just talk about that later ;)

The logs should still be there 🤔 When you die you don't lose much - the rebuy, any (ship) bounties / bonds and exploration data (from memory), but you keep most stuff.

Thanks, good tip, will do! I have no idea about stars adding more to jump range, looking forward to that once i get further in :) I do like scooping though, its pretty cool!

I'm not sure I fully understand the engineering modification. I'm trying to engineer the range. I already spent maybe 5 atypicals on the first tier as below, but the optimised mass still has a tiny gap at the top, or is that now maxed out?

On the next pic, it says I need ores etc... am i best collecting these from somewhere, I'm not sure what to do, obviously they aren't in commodities, and I know some missions have a couple as rewards, i'm just not sure how to best go about it...

That's the spirit!
"Don't fly without a re-buy" is not only good advice, it is the law if you're into playing in open and like to keep your engineered modules especially as a new player.
Careful coming and going from Felicity's base, she's more popular with griefers than even Jameson's site.

Once G2 becomes available (as it is) then there is no need to complete G1 (you normally shouldn't).

G2 needs:
1︎ Atypical Disrupted Wake Echoes
1︎ Chemical Processors

So - chemical processors - inara should tell you locations (or google). Dav's hope, or go find some High Grade Emissions and trade down for them. You would be better with the pre-engineered FSD though, even if DWE and Tellerium will see you doing new stuff - at least it is a one hit thing

26︎ Tellurium
26︎ Electrochemical Arrays
28︎ Chemical Processors
18︎ Datamined Wake Exceptions

Yes in your first pic that little gap requires one more ADWE to roll and finish that tier. The next tiers require the items in red and the number requirement is just for one roll. Have a look at Inara.cz under the engineer's section and it will show you how many of what you will need to get that module up to G5.

oops ninja'd by the great @Factabulus

OK cool thanks... I think i'll try Dav's Hope...but i just checked the Inara for engineers and does it suggest for that G2 i need 135 chemical processors and 179 ADWE?

Nope - those numbers are how many you have (check your Inventory tab in the right panel, materials and data are listed in two of the tabs)

Edit: And the blue numbers are how many you need - one each. The numbers will be red if you don't have enough for a 'roll'

OK perfect thanks, I have 0 in materials, so it's of to Dav's Hope for me :)

Dav's hope is kinda crap nowadays IMO.

When I need manufactured, I either go with high grade emission (kinda random), or the good ol' Robigo and pick mat. Then trade them for what I want. Mission rewarded mat are G3-4 if you are high enough in rank with the faction.

I'm going to have to play in offline mode, just spent the last hour getting killed on each occassion trying to land at Dav's Hope, same person killed me each time, even after i quit to menu....some kind of thermal attack, not sure, ship shields go and drop out sky and die...

Just FYI: The other alternative is to block that player - blocking them will mostly stop them instancing with you. (Main menu > Social > Search for CMDR name > Block)

For grinding there is only one set of items, so if there are multiple players you will be sharing them, which isn't ideal for anyone. Not that that guy was there for the mats...
