Noob question here...how do i get to Boepp UE-Q e5-2104 system

I assume I can actually land on an ELW? I am playing the Horizons version....
Currently, independent of version, no ELWs are landable, and Horizons will not permit you to land on any body with any kind of atmosphere. You need Odyssey to land on tenuous atmosphere bodies. (but still no heavier atmosphere bodies)

Tenuous atmosphere - Odyssey only (as is disembarking your ship / SRV)

Apart from surviving to sell your data to get your name attached to your discoveries, the other thing to keep in mind is that if anyone else makes the same discoveries and gets their data sold first you will only get the ordinary exploration rewards not the discovery bonus and no name attached.

That's great, thanks for the tips on those. That Edastro map is going to be super helpful!

Just did a test land on an ice planet i discovered and mapped, got the SRV out, mined some ore, boosted around (carefully), all in preparation for my Earth Like planet landing, when i find one :)

Always double check the
planet's gravity bottom rt of the planetary approach HUD or in the systemap. High gravity planets can be rough on you if you're not ready for it.

Also keep an eye out for notable stellar phenomenon while you're doing your system scan and be sure to check them out but they are rare.

Yes when the gravity gets above 2.5g thrusting down to land starts to get very exciting. The gentler way to do it is come to a halt over your landing spot then very briefly go to Flight Assist Off this starts your ship falling immediately restoring Flight Assist starts to slow your ship down, master this and you can make gentle precision landings without leaving a crater.

You can practice on low gravity worlds, it is very handy for getting into tight spots.

The Advanced Docking Computer should work, the basic one certainly works extremely well for landing on a pad, but it does have a tendency to pick ruddy awkward spots to try and land.

Cool thanks for the extra details. I think therefore once I find my Earth Like World, i'll be racing off to log it ASAP! There won't be time to simply orbit and contemplate!

I worried about my discoveries being taken on my first trip out. But worth putting it into perspective, it's been 8(?) years, and no one has found it yet... You'd be very unlucky if someone picked it up in the days/weeks between you finding it and you selling the data.

Space is big. Really big.

Go ahead and contemplate. Even take some pretty screenshots to remember it by! As the post above says, unless you're on a group expedition it's very rare to have a discovery sniped like that. The main rule is: don't post the location of your great discovery until you've cashed out the data. That's just tempting fate.

Cool that all makes sense, I will document my first Earth Like World :)

Just to make sure I'm not searching incorrectly and potentially missing them...I set my filter on Stars to only show Type F and Type G, and Applied to Route. The screenshot below shows where I am, and the blue circle an approximate direction, only approximate...

I'm scanning all my jump stop points as i navigate my way across the universe.... I've found about 3 water type worlds, all previously discovered, but no Earth one's... I am prepared to be patient, just want to make sure I'm not doing something wrong and potentially never finding one! :)

Oh, and I've almost lost my ship twice, jumped and didnt realise and hadnt throttled down and nearly ended up vaped! I'm still running OK, most components between 84%-96%, and a few repairs undertaken.

Checking with EDAstro... unless you intentionally go up or down a feww hundred ly, you're probably still on one or the other of the well traveled highways to any of half a dozen tourist spots.

My advice, go straight down or up in the galactic plane from where you're at until the stars thin out and it gets black. Pick a direction and go! You will find all that you're looking for ;)

Thanks Commanders, I wasn't sure, but now I am, I shall chart my course and explore. The darkness of space sounds more dangerous, but potentially more rewarding.

Yes polaris jumped out at me in that screen shot but I'm no seasoned explorer.
I'm a fan of the random direction exploration trip for new discoveries. (Though i did get a few first mapped b/t T-Tauri and the new kumo burger franchise grand opening [@ rubbernuke] / aka current CG). Happy hunting commander! o7

That is what the heatsink launcher I suggested sticking in one of your utility slots is for ;) accidents do happen

Happy hunting Cmdr o7

This is why I almost always jump at full throttle, the default action as soon as I come out of jump is to swerve away.

I still occasionally crash out but it is rare and when it does happen I take very little damage even without heatsinks.
The trick is to relax and take your time after the crash, firstly turn your ship to face directly away from the star (targeting it can help) next turn off all but the following essential modules
  • FSD
  • Thrusters
  • Sensors
  • Life Support (optional but usage accumulates)
now your FSD will have cooled so you can initiate transitioning into supercruise, with almost no power usage you should experience little or no overheating, when in cruise throttle back then turn your modules back on and resume your travels.

If you, or anybody else, is interested, I might go for a week explo trip if the next CG doesn't excite me. Essentially, I take the FC to go in the middle of nowhere, far from the bubble and then explo around. It's so far off, there are little system that had someone in there before. So all the FGK stars are left open for exploration, and their juicy ELW and all.

If you want to have a free taxi to the middle of nowhere with repair/refuel/rearm nearby, then that's the whole point of it^^ It's less fast than jumping around, but it's the most lazy way to :D Plus if you die, you respawn right there.

It's NOT a community thing, exploration together, meet and greet, discord social stuff or anything informal. You just pick the free taxi to the middle of nowhere and then explore to your heart content. Just go a few hundreds LY away so we don't all explore the same place.
It's a good opportunity for newer players who don't want to spend 1h in front of their screen just to get outside of the explored area around the bubble.

I start the travel the day the CG is announced (so I know if i'm doing it or not) and come back the day the next one is announced. Open to all players, since I think the FC is shared across all game versions.
CG start on thursday if you don't know. By the evening, eastern EU time.

No carto though. I'm cheap and I don't like the cut they take.

If people are interested, just drop me a PM on the forum. The only obligation is basically to land on time and that's only for you since I won't wait for anybody. And go some way away from the FC at destination so we don't scan the same planets.

Sounds like a great idea. My week next week though is really busy so i'm not going to get much game time in unfortunately. Out of interest, if i landed on your Fleet Carrier, and then logged out of the game, if you then flew 1,0000000 ly somewhere, when i next log in will i be in the destination your fleet carrier is in?

Yes^^ That's the point of it, you can travel without doing anything or even being online. That's why I use it for myself (and offer others to take the opportunity, since it doesn't cost me anything).
If that's an issue and you have odyssey, you can use the escape pods inside to move back to the latest place you've been. Otherwise, it's the long trip back :D

But as I said, I'm doing the trip back a week later. So if I do it, and you don't log for a week, it will feel like you haven't moved !
