Newcomer / Intro NOOB question...

I think I'm almost outta gas. I can activate my FSD but I can't get to another outpost to get gas. Is there any other way?

Fuel scoop perhaps? And how does that work?

You need to have a fuel scoop module installed. Activate it and fly close to the sun, a graphic will come up to tell you you are getting fuel.

Sorry no, cargo scoop is just for collecting cargo floating in space. If you do not have enough fuel to get to any other star system and there are no places to dock in your current system you will either have to got to your right hand menu and select self destruct or fly into the sun. I too made this mistake early on, not too expensive for the insurance if you have bought anything for your ship but this does not want to happen to you later on when you have a much more expensive ship!

Fraid not - you get the cargo scoop by default but the fuel scoop is an optional module. A (very) basic fuel scoop is only a few hundred credits though, so they're not too difficult to get hold of.

Cargo scoop won't scoop fuel, sorry.
Not enough fuel to get to a station and no fuel scoop=no options
Well, to be fair, you can choose between self destruct from the right hand UI menu, just running out of fuel and suffocating, or main menu, "Clear Save".... If you're still in a Sidey, you should respawn at the last station in a new ship, I think... Sorry!!!

I think there's also the option of supercruising to the next closest system, but it'll take you probably a day or two (real time) and you'll die anyway if someone interdicts your ship and kills you while you were sleeping...
