I haven’t heard too many peoples opinion on the Southern White Rhinoceros and I don’t remember how people scored the rhinos on the meta lists.
following my formula
I want: Southern black rhinoceros
If we get: Southern White Rhinoceros
I will be: content to have an African rhinoceros and I believe we will not get anymore rhinos in the future

I can't believe I never saw this thread. Great idea:

I want: American black bear - my favorite bear
I'm happy with: Sloth or spectacled bear - both are just as interesting to observe

I want: Gray fox - my favorite living animal
I'm happy with: Red fox or coyote - I love foxes and coyotes are fantastic

I want: Indian leopard - Jungle Book, as I've mentioned on other threads
I'm happy with: any leopard - just no more big cats, for me

I want: Wild boar - although I dislike them in real-life, I have to admit they would be interesting for PZ
I'm happy with: Red river hog - the colors alone should speak for them

darthquell I figured this was a good time to bump the thread back up. in particular I wanted to see people’s feelings on having the southern white rhino.
Here’s a new example for me
I want: hamadryas baboon
If we get: yellow baboons
I will be: dissatisfied but I won’t keep asking for baboons

I think the only situation where I’m going to be particularly picky is the California sea lion. Every other situation I can think of where I have a preferred (sub)species from a set - Amur leopard, Matschie’s tree kangaroo, grey crowned crane, siamang, Hamadryas baboon -I’d be fine with the next closest option (a different leopard, Goodfellow’s tree kangaroo, black crowned crane, some other gibbon and baboon). The sea lion I’d be very disappointed if we got anything besides Californian.

Most of these are very similar animals where one is my favorite, but I’d be happy with any kind because modders can use the Frontier one to make the missing ones:

Prefer Cali sea lion, but love them all

Prefer Arctic fox, but all foxes are cool

Any lynx would be great tbh

Prefer emu, but rhea or Sectretary birds are cool

Prefer sea otter, but Asian small clawed would be nice

Would prefer Brazilian porcupine because the behaviour and sounds are most unique and would be best with Frontier’s full efforts. But would love to see any porcupine

Prefer the Roosevelt elk but would accept the red deer.

I like Axis, Sika, and Fallow deer, but any smaller deer are sorely missing.

Prefer tree kangaroo or greater glider possum, but any more marsupials would be nice.

speaking of which... prefer the fossa, but tassie devils is a runner up. (They don’t look similar, they just fit a similar niche.)

and I’m kinda torn between all the storks, pelicans, and cranes. Also Nilgai, Takin, or Giant Eland.
