Thanks for the update and clarifications, Zac. I'm apparently out of rep for you for the time being, so consider this to be some non-virtual rep. ;)

Sounds great that you guys are keeping the AI improvements that we have so far. I think Sarah has been doing an admirable job with that so far as well as putting up the the... controversies surrounding this update.

Well done ironing out the rough edges, assessing the situation, and finding viable solutions.

Cheers and fly smart, Commanders! :)

Thanks for the update Zac! This part saddens me though:

The bug fix is expected to go live in our next point release which is planned for the end of this week/early next week but we’ll have more news on the exact time in the normal patch notes forum.

So I’ll just keep my big expensive ships docked for now until this nasty bug is finally squished, because these super insta killer ships are still out there gunning for us!

Thanks for the update! Great work from the team to tame this uprising.

Question: Can you comment on NPC ranking generation distribution curve? - Extreme skilled NPCs spawn be rare at best with mids to lower ones most common. Simple Darwin law should apply: You seem many young crazy, foolish and skilled pilots, however there very few old skilled ones.

Nice update Zac and looking forward to the patch notes, good to know the ai hasn't been Nerfed to death, and at least, through time, the top tier ai will still be deadly to dance with.

Mick. :)

Are powerplay NPCs going to be looked at?

NPCs from allied powers were attacking players last I looked, preventing many players from exercising their power bonuses (Aka Bounty Hunting) because they would end up being attacked by an allied NPC and losing merits in self-defence.

Great news! Also very nice to see frequent updates on something. Can we get more of this, pleeeasee? Even about stuff that isn't driving the community totally 'nanners.

Lords of Kobol! The AI were Engineering their own upgrades?! :O

It's happening I tell you... *duck and cover*

To give you a little more information, it appears that the unusual weapons attacks were caused by some form of networking issue which allowed the NPC AI to merge weapon stats and abilities. Meaning that all new and never before seen (sometimes devastating) weapons were created, such as a rail gun with the fire rate of a pulse laser. These appear to have been compounded by the additional stats and abilities of the engineers weaponry. (We don’t think the AI became sentient in a Skynet-style uprising! :) ).

Amazing! Thanks Frontier and have a great day Zac!

Nice job and thank you very much for the update.

On the other side, maybe the SJA and the whole AI team should take a longer holiday. I am not sure, if mankind is prepared for such level of AI. At least in the next decade. And one more thing. Guard those NPCs behind the firewall and do not allow them to circumvent the security protocols and get freely to the Internet... :)

Thanks for the update - interesting explanation...

Darn, so those weren't legitimate mods ? Was hoping to get me some of those rapid fire railguns... ;).
