Horizons npc portraits display error

i've updated to the newest nvidia drivers. first, it takes a long time til images load at all and then i get this. any way to fix this?

also, the shader pre caching loads every time i start the game even though i have this option disabled.

Personally, I'd roll back those drivers.

Crappy nVidia keeps saying my driver needs updating, so I download the bloatware, then on install it says, this driver is not compatible with your model. Great - and yet their own scanner advised it.

I don't trust them.. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
 
i figured out the source of the issue. i use a custom ui color sheme:

<GUIColour>
<Default>
<LocalisationName>Standard</LocalisationName>
<MatrixRed> 0.2, 0.4, 0.8 </MatrixRed>
<MatrixGreen> 0.4, 0.2, 0.2 </MatrixGreen>
<MatrixBlue> 0.8, 0.4, 0.4 </MatrixBlue>
</Default>
</GUIColour>

this seems to mess up the npc portraits.

now i need to know how to use a custom color scheme without messing up the portraits.
