Nvidia Beta drivers 337.5, a huge difference !

Last night I decided to give the latest Nvidia Beta drivers a go and they have made a big difference in my avg frame rate and peak frame rate within Heaven and the Alpha 1.1(solo combat test)

moving my low spec system from a score of 1276 to 1411 (same test options)
within Heaven.

Now I know that it's not good to add more variable's when testing (poss driver crash) but as a Beta+ I won't get to do any testing until the 30 may so will give these a good try in the meantime and see if I can kill them.

Nvidia's release notes claim much better DX11 amongst other things and the improvement on my system was noticeable before the benchmarking.

Driver version :337.50 ( Released on the 7th this month)

I will try and report any problems I have ,but other Beta+ may want to give them a try before the Beta+ drops next month. :)

And if you find or experience Issues let us know.

: I did a search for an Nvidae thread but other than the general Gcard thread nothing seemed to fit at all :p

By the time you start playing on the 20th I would guess these drivers will no longer be Beta by then. I've always been a bit wary of beta video drivers, but the last few Nvidia ones I have tried have been generally favourable.

I do not see any significant performance increase. I have about the same fps as with 335.23 as with 337.5.

What card are you using Aleksej? , Mine is quite a low spec GTX650 ,it may be that they're more of an improvement on some chipsets than others.

Still I hope they dont cause you any problems :(

I have two Titans in SLI and I am using Crysis 3 for performance and stability tests.

I have the GTX 660, so it will be interesting to see what driver I'm on and if upgrading makes a difference.

What benchmark did you use?

What are you using to tell your framerate in alpha 1.1?

Fraps. In fact I am using Fraps in Alpha 3.4 as well as it averages fps and you clearly see which frame rate you have. Built in fps meter measures values each millisecond so it is hard to see actual frame rate. The value can easily vary from 120-160 in one second.

been using these drivers for a while and beta from nvidia often just means they havent got the whql from microsoft yet. Been stable for me in all games.

Thnx Atomic ,it's good to know you haven't had any issues .

Did you get a performance increase or is it just that mine was so low it could only get better? :)

Those drivers are a fail for my 670s SLI setup , at least with Elite. The only SLI profile working for me with the last WHQL drivers was AFR2, all others profiles uses only one card and i got half fps. But with the last beta drivers, AFR2 crashes the game on launch, and the other profiles does not work. Back to the WHQL until i found a fix.

Have you tried forcing rendering using the second card in NVidia Control Panel?

They were a little quicker in BF4 yes, cant say with elite as used them from the start of my elite journey with alpha.

(Emphasis mine) Just want to point out, so that there won't be any disappointment on the 20th May, the the P-Beta starts on the 30th of May.

As to the Drivers, I'll check them out.

Is it the AFR 2 profile ? Alternate frame rendering 2 ? It s the only profile making the two cards working. All other profiles works but with half fps, only one card in use.
With beta drivers, and afr2 , elite crash at the frontier logo :(

I'm the same, I'd sooner not mess with drivers in Beta. Although the thing that tempts me most is Shadowplay's new ability in the Beta to capture from the desktop etc. I may be posting some Amiga WinUAE clips of Frontier: Elite II to Youtube before long. :)

Obviously its going to vary but typicaly how long would you think it'll be before the drivers move out of Beta?

Yes, it is "Force Alternate Frame Rendering 2". Although, I modify it only for ED in program settings, i.e. Global Settings remain at default settings. And I do not have any problems with SLI not working properly, both cards are under 90-100% load. I have used 335.23 and 337.5 drivers and did not have any problems.

I dont think there is an answer to that really other than how long is a piece of string.
