Odyssey Alpha PC Specifications & Download Time

but now I have to say goodbye to Elite Dangerous.
Why?
You can carry on playing Horizons as before, if Odyssey content doesn't have an appeal or is too demanding to your hardware.
In a couple of months we will see how well the devs manage to optimise the code. Presumably at least some, if there's debugging code present in the current alpha build.

Guys i need to know about my pc if i can run it at max 60 fps constantly whay do you think ?
i have i5-9300H processor, graphics card RTX 2060 6 gb with 32 Ram also i play on SSD NVM.2 my system is from 2020 year
can i run it ?
It will certainly run the very non performance optimised Alpha, whether you will get 60 FPS everywhere I doubt unless you lower the settings but if you have the access you might as well try it.

well i know now it's being optimized but when they release the game you think i can run it at max?

Because he has consulted with his friend at length, if things don't improve...

Seriously though, some folk just enjoy being over dramatic if things don't work properly the very first time they try it.

Built a new PC at Xmas Ryzen 7 3800xt 16 GB ram M2 pci x4 but still using my old GTX 980 TI as the AMD 6800xt I would is silly prices if you can find one my setting was ultra but now are at medium with shadows on low just to make the game playable 40 to 60 fps the gpu is running 95%.
I'm enjoying odyssey apart from dying more than surviving :(:)

playing for two years at medium settings, this did not suit me, but in 2020 I bought an MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GAMING X video card, bought DDR3 16Gb Kindston HyperX FURY 1866 MHz, my processor is AMD FX 6100, I started playing at ultra settings, but I was going to buy an AMD FX 8350 to make it even better, but now I have to say goodbye to Elite Dangerous.

I´m now playing first phases of alpha with i5-3470 and 1050Ti 4GB just fine, even though those specs are under minimum required for alpha.

And if this goes anything like first alpha / beta before game originally launched back at 2014, lots of things will still change (for either better or worse, more likely towards better optimization in general).

And then there is the "last generation console thing":
If PS4 or XBox One can run Odyssey at launch at low or medium graphics at worst, then I assume that much more recent PC´s will be able to run ED : Odyssey with good graphics.

My bet for high spec requirements for Odyssey alpha is that it has something to do with the optimization, because if you put your goal high, there is more room to come down from.
Or then again they were afraid alpha or beta will do some damage on some hardware, and wanted people play safe, even though they still have run it with GTX 760 :)

incorrect lighting, is it a bug or not a revision, why does something that shone before now not shine?

i7-8700k 4.8ghz - 32gb ram - SSD's -Gtx 1080. runs quite bad on planet surfaces, Gpu is always maxed out at 100% (1080p high settings)

It is practically impossible to fly over the surface of planets. In many places, textures, shadows and fog blink. On the surface of planets, invisible stones are often found. The surface of the planets changes right in front of the player. But the most ingenious thing in all this magnificent Odyssey code is the lack of optimization and a strong degradation of the FPS.

- Here is a link to a video in which, during flights over the planet, the FPS over time drops from 60 to 9 FPS.
60 FPS is set in the game.
PLEASE pay attention to GPU, CPU and Memory usage.
Especially I PLEASE pay attention to the FPS, the longer you fly above the planet's surface, the more the FPS degrades. Graphics settings in the game: All to Ultra. The shadows are average because it becomes really scary on the surface of the planet - all the shadows flicker even more, but the load on the GPU grows very little 1-3%

- Here is a link to a video of invisible stones

- Here is a link with blinking textures

If all this ingenious work of programmers remains in the release, then I will probably have to buy a new computer configuration. my system is already outdated today))))

When you upgrade, don't throw your old gear out. Send me a PM and I'll recycle it for you. No charge. 🤠

FDev, Any word yet on expected Sys Req for full release on the 19th? I'm sure you've noticed that some of us are getting anxious about this. Any new words of reassurance will be appreciated. 🥺
