Odyssey Bounty Hunting

I haven't seen anything about it, so I wanted to ask if there has been any talk from the developers about FPS bounty hunting, preferably the more sneaky kind where you track down your target and have to figure out a way to catch them...or just kill them if that's your way. I've been out of the game for a while due to some of the existing issues with the game and haven't heard anything that might make me want to come back to jump into Odyssey, but something like that might convince me to buy the expansion.

With the recent ban for doing piratey things I'd say no! Without rites of passage overly sensitive people ruin it yet again! Now excuse me while I go cry over spilled milk and sue someone for it?

That is a mischaracterisation really .. the ban was to do with community rules and exploits.

Don't know about bounty hunting but the first weapon, we ever saw fired in any Odyssey gameplay or demo, ever ..
.. was two unarmed civilian workers getting shot in the face.

edit: In fact I think the first might have been shot in the back! Only the second was in the face.

I just bought odyssey in time for the pc alpha. And I'm not overly confident that the landbased stuff isn't just going to degenerate into an fps shooter which is frankly, not what alot of folks want. But then again alot do want that.
The forth coming carnage novelty will wear off.
And like all fps shooters, become boring and repetitive.
You shoot up one base you pretty much done it.
Another base more to shoot. Only now it's somewhat familiar.
The on foot explorer side now that's a different story. Looking forward to that.
So how does boots on the ground combat affect the bgs? Can a system be flipped or assets seized exclusively by boots on the ground?

A bit off topic maybe but I can't imagine disabled bases doing gangbusters for a faction's influence?

A well aimed barrel of toxic waste!
Delivered strategically by SRV and detonated by hand gun.

True and yet again a lot of players play the same combat scenario over and over again in other games, if it’s fun people will come back for more, ArmA warlords is one of such games.

FD themselves told the slavers they were not breaking any rules. Of course this was before the outrage articles. The ban was to do with publicity, and little else.

That's the tricky thing with bullying though, it's subjective. One guy or gal's ragging in the pub is another person's oppression, so that's why the ban for 'piracy' is a bit misleading. They were NOT breaking game rules but it WAS a more grey area 'community rules' type problem.

Use the new automated ship landing system to SQUISH, Known Pirate Adams, for cash money.

The dirty word is slavery which is absurd.... they could have logged out raised a ticket and it all wouldve panned out without the huge PA nightmare that ensued.
Slavery is wrong no question of that. But cmon these folks both victim & perpetrators, were playing a video game.! Even "In character", this would be bonded at worse. And don't we have bonded imperial so called slaves in game already? Seems a tad more a response requiring blood! Public must be sated.
An over reaction yes. And of course this is just my opinion albeit slightly off topic.

To try and get this thread back on topic...So far no there hasn't been any direct mention of bounty hunting yet.

What we've seen FPS wise is the contents of the initially trailer, the "sphere of combat" video and the latest mission playthrough video which featured a laser cutter and some sort of "hacking" mechanic.
They've also mentioned there'll be CZ type scenarios between factions at contested ground bases.

So if they're giving us new toys for illegal missions, ground based CZs, populated NPC bases and a bunch of weapons I can't imagine they'd leave out bounty hunting, especially with Assassination/Massacre missions being the bread & butter of a lot of combat pilots.

Hopefully it'll work similar to ship mission but with a few extra steps like
Go to System A>Fly to Planet B>Land at Base C>Hunt down target D and blow his head off! (or capture him alive if it's an option)>Return to mission giver for reward.

We should find out soon enough though...

That's kind of what I'm hoping for. I've been completely indifferent to "space legs", but a mechanic where I can pick up leads to find an in person target and capture them would be pretty cool if they did it right.

Yeah, I'll probably hold off purchasing anything new until they either address my other issue, or a bounty hunting mechanic gets fairly fleshed out. Aside from ship interiors, which isn't happening any time soon from what I hear, I personally have no interest in the whole "space legs" thing. A cool bounty hunting experience might be worth the money all by itself, though.

Not sure about capture, but Gareth Hughes in the recent livestream talked about assassination missions where you could get a bonus for not killing anyone else than the target, and other missions where you might get a bonus for not killing any npc.
I like the sound of this, sounds like the kind of thing I'm hoping for.

Well if its anything like a land based version of haz res bounty bounty hunting, get ready. There will be a generic blown up factory map with some hallways and large rooms full of broken industrial equipment. Hopelessly stupid npcs will respawn endlessly and either run straight at you firing erratically or they will get stuck on the obstacles. They might even ask how you fools make a living or demand a snickers bar aka tasty cargo.
