Odyssey Engineering - Special G5 Mods

Currently all Mods are universable usable. You can can add a Suppressor to Lasers, Kinetics, even Rocket Launchers.

But...i feel like somehow the "Horizons Engineering feeling" is...missing. Mods are not special. They are just like very expensive Modules.
Also, G5 doesnt really feel special for me. Yes it finalizes the Strength...but thats it. Horizons Mods at G5 are usually really awesome, Long Range for example at 100% reduces Falloff completely. Not to mention the Experimentals. Its that extra bit that makes a Module feel unique.

So what if at G5 we would unlock a single "Special" Slot? One that is unique to the Type of Weapon?

Some examples:

Laser:
  • Emergency Battery: When you run out of Ammo, you can use Suit Energy instead.
  • Refined Focus: Increased damage to Health but reduced damage to Shield.
  • Super Capacitor: Turns the Laser into a Charge-Weapon that can hold a Blast for increased Damage, but removes Automatic-Fire.

Kinetic:
  • Force Rounds: Increased damage to Shield but reduced damage to Health.
  • Smart Rounds: Adds a tiny bit of seeking to your Projectiles.
  • HE Rounds: Projectiles explode when hitting Environment or hard Targets (SRV, Skimmer, Ship)

Plasma:
  • Phasing: A bit of your Damage bleeds through the Shield
  • Supercharged: Plasma now hits Enemies with "Arcs" when the Projectiles get close enough.
  • Superheated: Targets hit by the Plasma take damage over time.

Explosive:
  • EMP Warhead: Rocket now explodes like an EMP Grenade.
  • SABOT: Fires a much faster Projectile that pierces through Targets. No longer explodes.
  • Seeker: Rockets are now Seeker Missiles that deal massive damage to Vehicles and Hardpoints. Can no longer target Ground or Humanoids.

Target painting mode.
Fire an intense beam at a target which increases its heat signature, allowing ships and srvs to target whatever is being painted, and, anyone in your team can now lock on with the rocket launcher making it seek to the target.

That could also be an interesting idea for a seperate Tool
