Odyssey - Should it include a player revive option?

No details announced about how the mechanics work when a player dies on foot / in combat.

But do you think FDev should consider the option to revive wingmates? I even recall a game like Lord Of The Rings Online has that option haha!

Should we be able to revive a fallen team mate - or will lamesauce holo-me ship respawns take precedent?

Thoughts and feelings and buckets of salt below chaps...

LOTRO is magic, I don't think revive should work if people have holes in them! If they are stunned and can be resuscitated yes, but seriously blown up with bits everywhere...no.

Do they really have holes in them if they telepresence back to their ship?

In all fairness though - Apex Legends lets you revive players real quick with adrenaline shots and fast first aid haha

Something like PUBG perhaps? You get knocked out and can crawl to cover, and a teammate can help you up. If you are shot while down, you're out, back to wherever they intend you to spawn.

Take of suit to perform First aid.... No I dont see this go down well

No revive for you! Maybe stickers to patch holes in a suit?

I wanna know what happened if you and the guy you are shooting at, both run out of ammo.
Can we then do some hand to hand fighting or maybe a knife fight?
Or maybe do a melee type attack.

It just depends on what kind of game they want to make. It doesn't necessarily have to be a matter of realism. If they wanted realism as an option, they could make an Iron Man server. One life.

I think the closest to this would be a friend or foe beam laser weapon to recharge wing mates suit shields. Not sure about God like resurrection or whatever. That just seams too much like magic to me.

Every time you die you are brought back (at great expense) one step further into being a cyborg, until finally you lose all humanity and are just a robot who gets commandeered to stack limpets in a warehouse somewhere.

There's a definite design issue to overcome unless ED is suddenly to become 100% permadeath / ironman .. a scary prospect when for years you've had ship insurance, probably built up a fleet, owning a fleet carrier etc etc etc. No way would you (or should you) lose everything so there's sure to be a revival mechanic of some sort. Personally I'd go for something like instant revival back to your ship but with a progenitor cells cost to reduce a recovery time, before you're fit enough to go on foot again. Yes you probably will fail your mission and it's very unlikely to be what will happen. People probably wouldn't like it much but I wouldn't mind as a real penalty means "death" on foot means enough, that your heart starts to pump if you get close to it.

Revive's, I vote NO. If you die, your suit in Odyssey's case most likely has been destroyed, like your ship in Horizons, so what would a revive accomplish. If you die, it is rebuy time... back to the last station/base/camp/outpost/settlement/jungle hut with you. Some penalty (time and location) for dying, revive is just a cheap mechanic to save time, and have no penalty for dying, in my opinion.

I wonder what FDev will pick. My bet is on rebuy screen.

Can you revive me before i hit respawn?

Why am i going to lie around dead waiting for someone to revive me when i can just hit respawn? Even if it is respawn back at ship, i guess i'll be parked near enough to get back into the action quickly.

It's 3306 (07 when Odyssey releases). You all know the quote, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." So I have no problem with reviving wounded teammates, and from a gameplay perspective, I enjoy playing the medic in other games that offer it.
