Don’t worry about that, the crocodile has been nice to the last 9 guests. But seriously though, I meant like zookeepers/ourselves in first person
I agree with the op that it would add much to the game if interaction was possible, but it should not all be cute.
There should also be risk.
In real Zoos there are for example strict rules for how to interact with elephants, even if they are tame and friendly in general. Many deadly accidents have lead to the implementation of these rules.

Petting Zoo's are awesome! I love the screaming goats. =D This would be a fun feature to have in game, seeing the guests pet some animals.
Now I want screaming goats too.
