Horizons Old newbie

Hey guys, I haven't played the game much but I've always wanted a Anaconda for a ship.

I have around 300,000 credits and am flyin g a Viper MK3.

Can anyone help me get my goal of a anaconda. Should I sell up and trade? I wouldn't mind doing a bunch of trade runs or if anyone could spare some time in jumping on and helping me too that works also! :D

Thanks.

A Conda is an expensive piece of hardware! Like 200mil for the ship and then another 500mil+ to spec it out. I'm serious! I've spent the credits to A rate my conda. It's a slow turkey until you can afford this. So don't even think about this as an option until you get to around a Billion in the bank...
it's doable, but it takes a lot of time.

Techen, might I suggest you work up to buy an Asp Explorer, kit it out to carry cargo, place mines on it for defence firing as you run away from interdiction. Make sure you have insurance money in hand before you go trading.

for the moment, keep on doing cargo runs where you are, for the same people, because as you do more work for them, you gain favour and they will offer you better paying missions , then soon you will be able to purchase the Asp, which has a good turn of speed and boost straight out of the factory.

Do the SOTHIS CEOS, cargo and data runs to build up a couple of million crs each run.
Upgrade your jump range with the Engineers as soon as you can.

Your next ship could then be a Phython, do the same again and keep the Asp for Mining and Exploration. Took me 6 months of game play, but I now own a Phython and a Anaconda.
Cheers

The Anaconda is, in my opinion, overrated.

But ... if you really want cash fast then take Gaffa's advice. Sothis/Ceos is the way to go. Learn to love hauling biowaste.

Like Susanna said though, outfitting an Anaconda takes a LOT of credits. Be prepared to not only have at least twice the purchase price of the Conda to spend on outfitting and to keep enough credits for the insurance.

I agree that the faster way to serious money is the Ceos run.

The cheapest way to do that is a T6, fit it with A grade FSD, A grade scoop, D rated everything else (to increase jump range), drop the shield 1 size, and max cargo. If/ when intercepted, you'll be running away as its offensive capabilities are almost zero, so ditch the weapons (4 t loss will increase jump range) and fit a long defence unit.

You should be able to earn more than 5 MCr per run....
You can also rank up with the empire till you can afford a Clipper, which will increase your earnings

Hey man
I just bought an anaconda after amassing a fortune of about 300mil creds.
It is a wonderful exploration ship and I've got it up to 51Ly jump range with the help of level 4 engineer. (1 more to go).
I highly recommend this ship it is not overrated it is the absolute most secure ship one could wish for on long range exploration missions and will keep you safe and sound for months on end.

To get there I recommend the following:

Sell your viper for now and purchase either a T6 or an Asp explorer. If you can't afford the Asp go for T6.

Once you have done this do some rares trading. How?

1) go to Ethgreze Bloch station, buy Ethgreze tea buds
2)go to Zeessze Nicolier hangar buy Ant grub glue
3)go to Altair solo orbiter buy Altair skin
4)go to Leesti George Lucas buy Leesti evil juice and Azure milk
5)go to Diso Ma shifnal port buy Diso Ma Corn
6)go to Neritus Toll ring buy Neritus berries
7)go to Aerial Andrade legacy buy Eden Apples
8) go to Wuthielo Ku buy Wuthielo Ku Froth
*Note* whilst at Wuthielo Ku sell Ethgreze tea buds, sell grub glue sell Altair skin and evil juice sell azure milk and the corn. *note sell the following as well once you have them:* Tauri Chimes, live Hecate sea worms and ochoeng chillies
9) go to Coquim Hirayama installation buy Coquim spongiform victuals
10) go to Utgaroar fort klarix and buy Utgaroar millennial eggs *note* sell these eggs at George Lucas for maximum gain
11) go to 39 Tauri, Porta for Tauri chimes sell them as above at Wuthielo Ku
12) go to Hecate RJH 1972 for live Hecate sea worms sell at W Ku
13)go to Ochoeng Rodenberry gateway for ochoeng chillies *Note* whilst here sell Neritus berries, spongiform victuals and Eden apples for max profit (sell chillies at W Ku)
14) go back to Ethgreze and be sure to SELL Wuthielo Ku froth.
Repeat

PLEASE NOTE: because rares come in such small quantities you do this run keeping everything in your hold and sell it all at once at the above mentioned stations, don't think you have to go, buy, and come back for each separate item haha

In a fully kitted out T6 with Max jump range and max cargo (no weapons no shield) this should get you around 2 mil an hour. Play the first runs in solo mode before going to open for extra thrills (bear in mind you could lose everything in open if you get hit before W Ku)

This is also a wonderful way to explore the bubble at your own pace

After you get tired of this, upgrade to asp fitted for max range no shield no weapons but add a heat sink.

Then go to Robigo

Do smuggling missions until you are tired or you are allied or both. Now you should be making 10-20 mil an hour.

Once you get tired go fit out a python for combat. If you can't afford a python go fit out a Vulture for combat.

Go do Hi Res farming or CG or bounty hunting until tired. Doing this should net you about 1 mil an hour. But hey explosions. Yay. Also it upgrades your combat rank for better missions going forward.

Go back to rares and Robigo.

Before you know it you have money for an anaconda.

Once you have a Conda fit it out with level 4 or 5 power plant. Tiny shield no weapons but MAX cargo go to sothis. Do the missions until you have a comfortable *insurance cushion* of 100 mil *on top of your Conda* (trust me on this) then fit it out for exploring and max jump range with at least two SRVS no weapons and head into the black for the most amazing gaming experience ever (seriously) exploring if done properly is absolutely stunning. (Pro - tip: don't explore for creds or fame. Do it for beauty and awe.

I really hope this helps.
Do let us know if it does help and I hope to see you around Jaques soon enough CMDR.

Oh yes. Very much so. My Cutter is worse still and I'm not even close to fully outfitting it yet [saving those engineering parts for when I can finally afford A grade shields etc - About the same cost as an anaconda itself lol].

That said, to the OP, trading IS a grind, there is no mistake. It is laborious yet VERY rewarding, not just in terms of Credits but, also, for station reputation. With a higher station/system reputation come better missions board contracts and these can make for a lovely distraction from the trading grind, this is what I did. :)

My advice is to get some more money for an Vulture plus some fitting for it, that's what I did while in my viper doing low res or nav beacons. After that, I was doing high res like crazy and money were good. Then I got an ASP Explorer + fitting for it and started smuggling from Robigo, which is what I am still doing today when get bored. Didn't bought an Anaconda yet as I wanted and FDL A graded and a Python A graded. Go for building some reputation with Sirius or go directly to Robigo after you bought your ASP Explorer. While there, get any smuggling mission you can and have cargo for it. Try to get mission that gives the lowest cargo, don't take one that offers to pay 2 million (with low standing) and you have to smugg 80 slaves, instead get those that offer same money but 12, 16 or 24 slaves (exit game, go for solo, check mission board, exit game go for open or private and so on until you get your cargo full with the missions you want). At top rep (I get 6 milion for every mission) you could make around 30 - 40 mil with the ASP with one full cargo in max 2 hours chill playing. With an Python with lvl 4 FSD range upgrade I made around 70 mil but in around 3 hours or maybe a bit less, again chill playing. If that is what you would like to do, hit me with a PM and I will tell you everything I know about this and how I do it. Fly safe CMDR

Go to commodities market scroll down till you see tea buds its highlighted in bright lettering cos it's a rare. Buy it.

Although if Ethgreze is at war the market might be off line in which case fly to next system on list :)

Oh... So if its at war the market wont show up? Cause I don't see a market in this station at all.

With that I'll head to Zeessze Nicolier

It's been a few months since I've done that run. I hope it's not out of date! Wierd that Bloch Station had no commodities market. Was it in a war state?

Also am 42/50 already at ltair solo orbiter

Should I try and buy cargo upgrades? Also its a lot of jumps. Should I be looking at jump upgrades? Not sure what I need to do with my type 6

Once you're full skip the list and go straight to sell. Yes maximise your cargo get rid of weapons and shields lose everything except the highest level cargo racks for your ship

What do the cargo stuff fall under in the fittings? Sorry for all the newbie questions, Ive never really done cargo stuff/trading before and its been awhile since I outfitted anything.

Go to outfitting > optional internal > cargo racks, then choose racks that correspond to the slots. So if you have a spare level 5 slot put a level five cargo rack in it and so on: level 3 slot = level 3 cargo rack. It'll all add up till you have about 100 cargo space (IIRC) in the T6. Sometimes the stations you are in actually don't stick the necessary cargo racks. To find them go to a high tech system and they should have the optimum cargo racks.

I managed to go from 50 to 80 cargo, Replaced them all with larger holds. So thats that sorted.

As for jump drives, There rather confusing. It seems the only real invesment would be to spend aroun 500k to get something that boosts me 22ly instead of 13 which I currently have? :S

Absolutely. Go for the best A - Class FSD drive whatever the cost. It's worth it. But leave yourself enough money to buy the goods.

Sadly I only have 100k, so I'll stick to my drive till I have enough for a A drive and some spare cash. Thanks again for the help :D
