Arrived to Jaques Station at Colonia. Realised, that SRV bay will drop my FSD range to quite low value. So I've decided to gather resources near Colonia and then get rid of my Hangar bay.

Firstly, congratulations Cmdr, a great achievement!! You join the ranks of a small band of nutters (yes, Frawd & Jermus, I do mean you...) !!

what was the point again...?!?:S
If you have to ask then you're lurking and posting in the wrong forum!!

Fly safe all :)

probably u r right... I was expecting some information or interesting ideas about the exploration from this forum as an explorer... instead, this is more like a show off place... most of the posts r about "I did this... I found this..." so in the end, I may not lurk around anymore... thanks for that useful suggestion...

Sorry, I came across a bit harsh - consider a ;) after 'forum' rather than !!

Please continue to lurk, ask questions and, if you feel the need, to post info regarding your exploration of the big black.

We like to share our experiences, partly due to a feeling of satisfaction or achievement and partly to act as encouragement, ideas or incentives to others that are contemplating an exploration trip. The OP is quite an achievement due to the low jump range of a Sidewinder and there's only a small number of Cmdrs that have been mad / bored / brave enough to do a BP round trip in a ship that small. The OP does contain info on the route taken, length of time etc so, as well as being a 'Whoop!!' post, its also useful for other intrepid Sidey pilots considering the trip.

Have a great New Year and fly safe out there :)

Complete misjudgement of the explorer community.

To assume that these posts are done purely to boast and do some implicit ego corressment is a very negative attitude and if you would know the community you'd also realise it ain't realistic to apply such labels here. Over here I've learned that if there is any achievement confirmation hunger, it is there because we are genuinly proud of what we achieved, we are in a group of people where we feel we can say these things, social to share, scientific enough to learn from it, and piece by piece we evolve.. we build information, we build stories, and in the end we build ourselves.

And the best examples actually lead to big projects.

What I find most impressive is the speed of this trip. Are you aware you averaged 165 jumps a day to complete this. That is some good going I would say.

Congratulations on reaching the first half of your goal.

A good comment, indeed. For myself, the 'look where I've gone!' posts are a form of socializing. Exploration is rather lonely, and it becomes less so when I share my story here amongst people who have similar interests.

Most exploration is done 'just because': not to solve some great mystery, and certainly not to gain any advantage or benefit. And although I'd never take a Sidewinder to Beagle Point like the original poster, I think the desire to do so is a perfect example of what drives most explorers.

Can I make it? What challenges will I face and overcome? Am I really that crazy? ;)

My way back should be longer because of holidays. I have flew only 70 systems for past three days, so much to do IRL)) But i'll be back on track in january, 2nd)
