Only 4 weeks for Oculus Rift

I ordered my rift on the 11th of June, got it delivered today.
Over a month earlier than originally planned.
Looks like they are getting on top of their order backlog now.

Now i don't have the rig to run it lol.

Just a GTX 960 2GB that will not cut it.

Waiting for some custom designs of the 1080 to become available.

Looking at the Gainward Phoenix GLH at the moment, but nowhere in stock yet.

Will try some of the demos with the 960 but i don't think i will try ED, even on VR low...

I'm in the same boat!

Rift shipped today a whole month earlier than I expected, and I also have a lowly 960 4GB sat in my machine.

It will be a 1070 for me though as the 1080 is a bit rich for my taste :) Stock is hard to find and what is in stock seems to be crazy priced, decisions decisions!

mine came before my pc too! :D played for 4 weeks with my Laptop in VR with one 980M
SOOOO worth it! Sure VR LOW but trust me dont waste a Minute and try with the 960 in VR low - such a blast already!!!!

well the 980m has 8GB not sure if thats an Advantage but otherwise the 960 should be similar...

I actually gave it a try yesterday evening.

Set everything up, had a look at some of the simple demos in Oculus home.
Even there i had lots of judder when moving my head.

Started up ED, set to VR low and started a training mission.

Lots of judder in the asteroid field, not really smooth but it was (barely) playable.
As long as i stick to pitch and yaw no nausea whatsoever, but roll was really hard on my stomach.

Got into my ASP landed on a planet somewhere far out and had a look around the cockpit.
Standing at the side windows and looking back at the bulk of my ship was simply awesome.

Well, i let my wife have a go too, first in the demos and later in ED in a training mission.
She had no trouble at all, even with roll in ED.
Experienced the judder of course.

But after that session she had no issues with me going for a 1080 to have a smooth VR experience. :D

be careful. the last thing you need is for a poor experience due to lame hardware put you off VR.

this is not backed up by science, however my experience of things is there is a danger of your body rejecting things if you have too many bad experiences.

for instance i used to enjoy most spirits but now my body goes into nausea mode just thinking about drinking them after abusing them too much..... dont let VR do the same just because you cant wait for a decent graphics card.

ps my mate ordered his rift 2 weeks ago as of yesterday.

his delivery is for tomorrow.

I won't play anything like ED on my 960, just wanted to have a first look.
Tried Lucky's Tale later in the evening, but got heavy nausea after just 5 minutes and called it a day.

I placed my order about three days ago, estimated time was August.
But got an email last night saying it was processing and there is a giant hole in my credit card..
