Dear Frontier,
Thank you so much for the wonderful holiday gift of not only some very brilliant paint jobs for the Beluga but, more importantly, DECALS! You've finally put DECALS into the store! I know I speak for a lot of members of the community when I express how absolutely thrilled I am to finally see you guys put some more decals out there for us.
The only problem is that the decals you've given us in the store lack meaning. What I mean is that we, the players, feel no real connection to these designs. I mean, releasing decals is a step in the right direction but these aren't the decals we've been looking for.
People like the Onionhead decal because you guys created a brilliant piece of lore around that image. We fought for or against Onionhead in the war in Kappa Fornacis. You poured meaning into that image so that people are proud to display it. You could create a simple ASCII decal that says "BASK" and the Imperials would flock to buy that. Random geometric patterns? Sorry but there is no emotional connection to that.
What we'd all really love? Decals for our player minor factions. Give us the parameters of what technical requirements the decal has to match and we can send you the image files. Charge us a setup fee and then let faction leaders purchase them in numbers as "Gift Codes" that we can give to our faction members.
The bottom line is that: YES! We want decals! But we want decals that express meaning and connect to us personally.
Thank you for a really awesome game and to Mr. Braben: Happy Birthday.
