Operation Enigma, breaking the code!

After carefully reading the thread and all subsequent comments, you've definitely sold me on the idea of joining The Code. Cheers Op. Now, does anybody have a link to the application form, please?

I'm glad, will be one less person to deal with as you prowl open.

On the first page, I was just disappointed in what this is all about.
Now I am angry with this.

Whether you're a good guy or a pirate, from MOBIUS or the CODE....
Cheating the player is tolerable, cheating the game is intolerable.
Creating your crusade against the CODE is fine and all... if you thought they were just simply being pirates.
In my perspective, you seem to think they're not just being pirates, you think they're absolutely disrespectful to everything and everyone.
You have no idea how infuriatingly trivial this is to the CODE. I just talked with them since last week, they're absolutely friendly and nice! And this is before I even found out the CODE has this undeserving, poor reputation.
They're intolerably annoyed by whiny, immature, and disrespectful people that treat this game like it's their life and purpose.
You people snark and trash talk the CODE. And it's not because they're simply pirates, you do it because they're being "disrespectful" or "extremely unfair"! Do you see how stupid it is to say to this unique band of pirates, who are friendly and nice, that just kill or loot because they're badass pirates, and nothing more?
If you have so much personal problems dealing with player pirates or smugglers, you just need to stick to single-player. Online gameplay is not for you if you can't tolerate the good, the bad, and the ugly sides of players.
So all of you quit your self-righteous blather about what's right and wrong based on the game rules and ethics. AND STOP MAKING FUN OF PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THE TRASH TALK!
WE'RE ALL SUPPOSED TO KNOW THE RULES!
THE PROBLEM IS YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO KNOW HOW THE GAME WORKS!
SO, IF IT DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU, YOU SHOULD NEVER HAVE USED IT AND SHOULD HAVE SEEN IT COMING!
BECAUSE IT'S YOUR FAULT FOR BEING A WEAK PLAYER WITH NO AWARENESS FOR THE VIRTUAL REALITY OF THE GAME!
GROW! UP!

OK I wont accuse you of being a sock account like the guy who replied to your second post, nice to see you back though on post three.

I met a nice pirate many months back, (s)he is the only reason I spend any time in open, I only trade rares in my type6 that I can afford to lose in open, but that's just common sense. Here you go.... https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=96666

Glad you had fun, lots didn't it will be what it will be.

Please explain what you mean by "Cheating the player is tolerable, cheating the game is intolerable.", I do not understand who you are accusing of cheating or why?

After carefully reading the thread and all subsequent comments, you've definitely sold me on the idea of joining The Code. Cheers Op. Now, does anybody have a link to the application form, please?

Look for a post by Gluttony Fang and PM him (cuddly red wolf avatar, like you didn't know lol) :D

Please do join them, they need everyone they can get "help me obiwan you are my only hope" (pulls battery out of R2 unit) :p

It's delicious - forcing a PVP group so that they are performing PVE missions in order for their group to maintain at least some form of influence.

<snip> oh dear, Oh dear, OH dear, OH Dear, MY SHAME, ohhh my shame. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=183535

Oh dear Asp, it is worse than I initially thought, not only can shield less-haulers fight back, (keep it quiet, it could cause a riot on the forums), the intelligence report I attached from our not so top secret agent NOT! (again NOT associated to this thread) (who has nothing to do with this at all) would seem suggest you can sit in the station and use the galaxy map to find your enemy's, you don't even have to un-dock from the station, what were FD thinking, are they mad! :D.

What have FD done with their evil galaxy maps lol, you don't even have to undock to find them, the plot thickens, I am looking forward to what FD have next.

So the next question, are the code going to tell us where their minor faction is based or do they lack "testicular fortitude" as they would put it?

Cmon guys, its only a game, we all want to help FD monitor the BGS to help improve the game, don't we :p

Mobius and I already came to pretty much an agreement, we'll let the topic drop. <snip>

I really didn't want to enter this debate again but due to past actions of codes members, they are not welcome in our group, I have no issue removing a code member from our group, I find it odd that while code members are so against our group they insist in playing in it even if they play by the rules they bend them to their own means and that is not what our group is about.

with that the only advice I can offer the rest of the community and their beef with code Is this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlKao_Pox5A

Jeez, if that's agreement I am would hate to see disagreement, I guess you forgot to drop it (your group not you personally).

I am sorry that Mobius (the person & group) got dragged into this, it's not what I had in my mind when I started this thread, I am sure he is too busy accepting invite requests etc. Mobius has done more for this game than 99% of the rest of us ever will, even if we try really bloody hard for a long, long time!

Speaking for myself only!

@ Glutton Fang, will you ask all code members to leave the Mobius group immediately now you know you are not welcome? and will they all comply? I knew something was wrong when you said the code would respect the rules, it was something in the wording of it, well we saw where that ended up didn't we.

Will you ban any code member that enters the Mobius group from this moment onwards?

What do the minority of code members dislike about the Mobius group, you said the majority were OK, what is it that the minority dislike?

The genie is out of the bottle, I guess the question is, do you feel lucky punk (sorry I couldn't help it), do you want run BB missions every minute of your life, or would you prefer to spend 75% of your time playing UPS and 25% saying yarrrr!!!, the percentages might vary depending on your choices and how liked or disliked your are.

We (my guys, not Mobius members) are committed to testing the BGS to the limits after the next update, we would like to know if its possible to replace a player based minor faction with an AI one (and visa versa).

Where did you say your minor faction was based again? I think I missed it ;):p:D.

Please explain what you mean by "Cheating the player is tolerable, cheating the game is intolerable.", I do not understand who you are accusing of cheating or why?

WHO:

I'm not accusing anyone of cheating here. I'm saying people are accusing them of cheating the game against players, which they aren't.
It probably wasn't mentioned here, but it was definitely mentioned somewhere else, a lot of times.
When you cheat someone, it obviously isn't nice, especially in real life. It's worthy of arrest or worse.
But, when you cheat someone in a game, like fooling them into following you, or stealing their resources during a trade deal, it's only a game, so it would be the victim's fault for not being careful.
I don't mean the kind of cheats like, "Wanna share accounts? Give me your info and I give you mine," or "double-u-double-u-double-u dot free-points-illegal-fake-website-will-steal-your-account-information dot com" sorts of bull.

WHY:

A lot of people are discriminating the CODE as griefers or as some EVE group that I have no idea about, I mean look at MOBIUS. A player that's part of the CODE and MOBIUS got kicked out of MOBIUS, because he is part of the CODE. He followed their rules without making any trouble while he was in their territory, around them, whenever he's not doing what CODE does.
Now MOBIUS comes in here, with some cheapshot advertisement against the CODE, saying, "Heyyyyy.... I don't wanna intrude in here on anyone or anything, but check out our group! We don't like the CODE, join us!"

OTHER THING:
FD encourages all sorts of allowed roles in this game, as it SHOULD BE.
So, hate the CODE all you want!
But.... making some crusade for the sole purpose of eliminating the CODE as a group, you being an anti-group? It is very ignorant, short-sighted, and a waste of time. No real cause there.
Though, no one should stop you from trying, try if you want. You have the freedom, you'll just be worse than what they are. You're not trying to ruin them, you're trying to destroy them for what they are allowed to be.
You wish there was some harsher way to punish the the law-breakers? You really need to look at the bounty board. Wanted players already have enough trouble by just being wanted, they have tons of credits on their head. So, if you kill them, whoopee for you, boohoo for them!

Whether you're a good guy or a pirate, from MOBIUS or the CODE....
Cheating the player is tolerable, cheating the game is intolerable.

Is disrupting the game for meta game reasons cheating, perchance?

Creating your crusade against the CODE is fine and all... if you thought they were just simply being pirates.
In my perspective, you seem to think they're not just being pirates, you think they're absolutely disrespectful to everything and everyone.

They disrupted what was intended to be a bit of whimsical fun because they had a disagreement with Frontier that said whimsical fun did not provide a source of profit for piracy. Talk about entitlement. This disruption was not piracy, it was not in the spirit or role play of the game, it was just spoiling people's fun.

If something is trivial, it can't be annoying, no? But since we're making accusations: the Hutton Orbital CG was just a bit of fun. Code made it their mission to teach Frontier a lesson. Seems they are the ones who treat this game like their life and purpose. I mean, they got a gang. With bosses and a PR spokesperson. They have meetings and make group policy decisions. Who is treating this like a real life thing?

You people snark and trash talk the CODE. And it's not because they're simply pirates, you do it because they're being "disrespectful" or "extremely unfair"! Do you see how stupid it is to say to this unique band of pirates, who are friendly and nice, that just kill or loot because they're badass pirates, and nothing more?

But they don't, do they? Else there wouldn't be a problem.

What? Hardcore PvP players can't handle a bit of verbal sparring?

The irony is strong with this one. Code disrupted people's game play with exploits for meta game reasons. It didn't work for them so they tried to force Frontier to change it by spoiling what was meant to be a bit of fun. They were supposed to know how the game works and have an awareness of its virtual reality but they didn't like it, so they kicked over the sandcastle.

So what's the issue with the minority? genuinely interested to know why they are so upset some people don't want to play with them. I honestly can't get my head around that and did you not mean that you don't need justify why you don't remove your members rather than why you do, to the public? I think you made a typo there ;)

I don't think I made a typo, and the message should be clear.

I will remind Code members that they are not welcomed in Mobius, as he had pointed out himself. However, I feel that it's not my place to physically restrict them, since it's not my mode and it's difficult for me to handle the matter since I don't have direct access right. Also in case some new members didn't know about this mutual exclusive status Mobius and Code has, it will be hard to judge who intentionally joined and who honestly didn't know. I leave that to Mobius, and I'm happy to confirm who is our member and who is not.

Dave1235 said:

No, in my opinion, if Code members somehow get access into Mobius and do not cause trouble, I will not ban them since there will be exceptional cases and I do not own the Mobius group. If they intentionally cause trouble, on the other hand, I will take actions.

As a speculation, and I emphasize speculation, people might take advantage of this and report Code members that did not even enter Mobius and try to get said members banned. Thus to prevent that, I would like to keep an open mind about the issue and make each case unique.

Dave1235 said:

I think a minority of us really dislike the idea of PvE and people that reject PvP, to the point where they find it necessary to act upon those ideas. These people find mode-hopping illegitimate, I believe. But let's not get into Open vs Solo debate here, it's distracting.

I do my share of trading, bounty hunting, exploring, mining, smuggling, Power Play and pirating with the last item being the most occupying out of all. I am Deadly, Tycoon, and Pathfinder. I think I prefer to spend my time pirating for 50% of the time, 30% of the time Power Playing and coordinating Archon Delaine, and the rest fall into place.

I'm unsure where it is precisely located, I believe it's in the Lave cluster, but I'm not sure. I'll personally be focused on Power Play and Pirating, other matters are not under the description of my department.

As a side note, forgive me that this will probably be the last post I post in General Discussion for around a month, I had some severe disputes with the moderators and am feeling very ill about the situation. I do not wish to spread that negativity around here, so I will be restricting myself to the Roleplaying, and Power Play sections mainly for a while until I can come to term with my emotions.

I will be checking my private message, so if there's any questions, feel free to message me, I will check them.

You refer a lot to the Code as Pirates but I wonder about that. Heard a lot of stuff about the code and what they are doing, nothing of that had anything to do with pirating. And why Pirates would go after traders with scrap in a place with long traveling times is beyond me anyway.

From what I could gather on the Forums they seem to be more some sort of politic Faction trying to make a point about all sort of stuff by doing anything but pirating ^^

I thought the color changes added even more of that sweet vintage bad taste :)

Where is the <BLINK> tag when you need it.

- - - Updated - - -

Maybe it's time to do a poll to change the CZ rules in Mobius.
After all, we now have CQC. No more need for CMDRs to engage each other in Mobius arenas.
Generally, when I meet an opposing CMDR in Mobius, it's 'happy hunting enemy CMDR' on the comms anyway. Why not formalize this de facto etiquette.
This will make it so much easier to consistently ban any CMDR who harasses another CMDR in Mobius.

I think Mobius has made his position rather clear.

Are some of the posters getting a little off topic?
Isn't the OP trying to gain support for a little solo mode undermining when minor factions is launched.?
Personally if u want to gain support against the code have the guts to do it face to face.. Afterall if you think about how many players there must be available for opposition then the code is outnumbered on a massive scale!
Are we so scary that you must do it in solo mode.
Personally for those undermining i would like to shoot them rather than try to run faster on the hamster wheel.
And just a little food for thought...
Those who oppose pvp...
When you have traded and traded and traded and then traded some more and you have gazillions of credits.. What are you gonna spend your cash on? A new car? Nope. A holiday? Nope. A new house? Nope.. Oh yes.. I forgot its a game.. Perhaps you might spend your hard earned credits on a combat fit python or anaconda.. Then what will u do? Yup a good ole bit of npc bashing.. Then when u get bored of that.. Yes my friends you will turn to the dark side and shoot other players for one reason or another.
So you will either mindlessly kill others.. But you can thank the code for the fact you can enjoy your nice combat fit python and keep your conscience clean and kill us baddies.
Other than that you will likely get bored buy a new game and move on.
There is no long term gratification in trading.
That is unless years of mindless grinding is your thing. In which case i suggest u get help.

There is no gratification at all in mindless pew-pew for me. You can't look down on others for the way they choose to play their game. You are not their boss. If they choose to pew-pew you its up to them, you have no say in the matter.

The animosity is hilarious.
From "Exploit mode", to trading is grinding, you can actually hear the hand wringing from across the galaxy.

Do you seriously think you can be "scary" in a computer game?

Do you think these are real spaceships and you're killing people?
