Operations Weapon Accuracy is not synced between players.

Very easy to test but if you shoot a weapon at a wall while scoped, and your friend is watching you. Your shots will be incredibly inaccurate for your friend, but very accurate for you.

On my screen I shot in the O of "Command", but on my friend I shot below it.

Again on my screen I fired all my shots within the O of "Command" using the scope of the plasma rifle. For my friend it looked like this.

I suspect that either engineering modifications aren't being synced, or scoping down weapons isn't being synced. Whatever the case is, weapon shots and accuracy are NOT being probably synced between clients.

I have not noticed this yet, but from what I (and fellow operation team mates) observed, Operations still has “bugs” with synchronization in general.

Example:

- Sometimes I’m wondering why teammates are shooting at a closed door, just to see enemy NPC opening and passing the doorway a few seconds later.

- NPC ‘warping’ occasionally.

- one time I could observe my teammates walking through a closed doorway after the elevator and after asking I was told it is open for them. I could not pass, even after trying to open it for me by zapping the door-port with the energylink tool multiple times.

- at one point I could open the local chat, but could not type or rather it did not show up on the local chat – while I’ve read messages from others just fine.

I played with ‘random’ people, not squad members or friends, so impossible to test and reproduce for me...

We think we've figured it out it seems it doesn't sync if players are aiming down sights or not. So it thinks everyone is doing hipfire.

At one point we had several downloads going which obviously then didn't all finish. 😅

ED has never been fully synchronous and I was not expecting them to rework the network model specifically for Operations (though it would certainly have been nice).

I would also assume that it does matter is not just visual. Elite is P2P, there is no game server that decides what's actually happening.

There are multiple servers deciding what is actually happening. Every client-aggressor is correct when it registers hits on other peers (CMDRs), or on NPCs it's hosting (which seems to be determined by who those NPCs are targeting, defaulting to the instance host otherwise).

That's just Einsteins relativity at work; different observers disagreeing on the simultaneity and even order of events. Besides, all this faster-than-light travel is bound to break causality, eventually, somewhere🙃

Joking aside, strangest (probable) sync bug I've had was when powering up the megaship in Terminal Takedown. I got 3 regs, put 2 of them into housing with no problem, ran to the third housing, pressed use—nothing happened and message "In use" displayed for that housing. Thought nothing of it, ran to the next housing and plopped the reg into that, no prob. But from that moment that one reg housing became unusable for everyone, showing the same "In use" message. We fragged ourselves to pass the last reg around, and curiously the housing started working again after I fragged myself🤪 I've noted that Terminal Takedowns are the most prone to bugs and glitches—the reg housing thing, breakers not being interactable or fail to register as set correctly, a few of the ships you need to destroy to draw out the general just disappearing or not spawning.
