Option Request - Private/Solo games - ability turn off or limit NPC pirates

OP, I think the best solution for wanting to be left alone and just play in peace is, ironically, to find people to group up with.

Find a player group of people who enjoy playing the game as escort ships - they're out there - and when you want some chill downtime, put in a request for an escort. As long as you're making money, they will be too, and it's a way some genuinely enjoy playing the game.

If that's how you want to play, go exploring. You'll find that there are worse things than NPCs out there.

There is supposed to be some risk to get rewards. I mean, this would be like modding Skyrim to remove all of the enemies so you can dungeon crawl with no risk at all, it wouldn't even be a game at that point.

Heh, there actually are plenty of good games that have no risk at all - in those you can interact with stuff and see what happens, but you can't really lose any progress. You just usually know it off the bat. I mean, there's nothing inherenly wrong in enjoying a zero challenge Skyrim as long as you don't expect the game devs themselves to provide for you.

I wouldn''t suggest exploring either, too many risks e.g. high gravity bodies with interesting Bio, close binaries, Q-type anomolies...

Quantity, quality & type of interdictions should be better tied in better to the bgs of a system.
Anarchys should be impossible to visit without random, strong psycho-murderers attacking you (and with rewards for making it through such as access to modules or better selling markets). Similarly pirates should operate in logical places - low security but decent trade routes. High security should be easy to visit with lower rewards.
This is all basically as 1984 elite & frontier : elite 2
E : D seems to just change the time for the police to turn up.

@OP

There's multiple hidden factors that decide how much NPC Interdictions you'll encounter.

Stack of Missions? High chance of encountering Opposition.
Valuable Cargo into an Anarchy or Low Security System? High chance of encountering Opposition.
But... hauling Cargo into a System where you're Allied to all Factions? Significantly reduced chance of encountering Opposition.

IMHO, running stacks of Courier Missions or Fetch Missions appears to spawn by far the highest chance to get Mission-related Trouble.
But hauling even large amounts of Void Opals or Painite or Trade Palladium through Allied Space? Not so much.

It's the little things that can make a large difference.

Other than that, with alot of practice, evading NPCs even in a Type-9 becomes a thing, quite doable most of the time.

I really like this idea.
But why stop there. The ships should fly themselves from station to station, select the highest profit cargo and fly to the next station to sell it. All automatically.
I can let the game run for a year all by itself and then I come back to it I'll be a gazillionaire and can boost on the forums about my trade Elite and tricked out Anaconda.

Another it used to be better in the past stories.. early on it was really dumb and seemed to be based on timers... every 2 hours or so it seemed you got intersected and it was great. You could also kill pretty.much everything shy of an anaconda in your asp so while it didn't make sense you kinda looked forward to them.

Now you don't bother fitting guns in medium or small ships and it's almost guaranteed if you use the mission board, so it feels like a pest yeah. Or only use large ships.

Make it so solo / pg don't effect power play, CGs, or the BGS and sure. They can still participate and reap the rewards of course, but none of their actions actually influence anything. Since FDev seems to have no interest in properly balancing NPCs vs players anyways, maybe this is for the best.
